Fish for Frags??

Not Quite Right
This may be a bit off topic but I have a boatload (several hundred) of black mollies and red wag platys in my pond that need a home. They range in size from new born to almost full grown. The platys are orange with black tails and the parent mollies were lyre tail but I have no idea of who they were fooling around with.

PM me if interested. Wouldn’t mind some softie frags for trade but right now I have about a month to find a home for them before the cold weather gets them so they are free to anyone that wants em.

Keep in mind they are very healthy but they are pond raised.

stlouisguy .. How are the mollies?

stlouisguy,

It was nice meeting you today. How are the mollies and platys? After reading a bit it looks like they might need a longer acclimation period. I am curious to see how many make it. If I don’t fall in I am going out tonight to try for some more.

Also, the place to get the Christmas control boxes is called lightorama dot com. I would be glad to give you a tour of my lite setup when you have time.

Thanks again for the frags, I owe you huge for that one.

Hope they are doing well!! Just an FYI, mollies no problem, platys not so good!! I think we need to stick with the black ones.

They were good after about 3 hours, doing fine in the tank. I do think I could use about 30-40 more though since the orange guys didnt make it. I can pick them up too some night after work

It was cool to see your son into it also. Very cool to meet both of you. Let me know how the frags do, the cap you can almost watch it grow weekly!!

Mollies - Costal, Estuaries, Rivers
Family: Poeciliidae
Genus: Poecilia

Platys - Rivers
Family: Poeciliidae
Genus: Xiphophorus

That is why the Platys did not make it, they are a different Genus from a different ecosystem. I do not suggest trying it again, it is a painful death. You can however freeze them alive and make your own "Silversides", death by hypoxia isn't the worst way to go. Ask Capn Geritol why he seems so gitty and can't remember anything, no blood in his brain.

Thats what I did, when I saw they werent making it, I put them in a bag, froze them and later fed them to the tank

Gone in a heartbeat

Good time..

Good time..

The first part of the week is pretty full. I set up a holding tank so I can have the kids work on grabbing some every evening. Once you put a net in hte pond they scatter. THere must be 500 platys out there. If I can't find a pet shop to take them then I might have to freeze them. Hate to do that but if they freeze in hte pond it will make a huge and nasty mess.

Lets shoot for sometime after Wednesday night.
