Thanks for the replies. My set up consists of a 300g main tank and about 200g sump/refuge. They are in the basement. But my basement is on the ground level, and the temperature gets too high especially in summer. For more than ten years I never needed a heater. This was a nice well established reef with a lot of corals, inverts, and fish. The system had a chiller, skimmer, and all filters. And I was living happily with my little reef, until I was deployed overseas for a year and a half. When I returned, the electricity price was more than doubled by our beloved local government in Baltimore, and my wife had to cut down. So, she disconnected the chiller, the UV filter, the skimmer, the Metal halides, etc.... She only left the sump return pump running (thank God for that!)
Now the tank looks spooky, no corals, almost no life. Just tons of life rocks, in an 86+ degrees water. With the electric bill as high as it is, I have no plans, at the moment, to reconnect the chiller.
I am not in any shape now to restart a reef (It took me three months to bring myself to be able to talk about it) I just thought that I may gradually introduce some hardy fish that can survive in my hell of a water, Thanks again for lending me your ears.
