I know having a picture would be great but I didn't have my phone with me yesterday so I couldn't snap a picture.

The fish was at our LFS. They were quite active swimmers. They were brown with white patches (spots) all over there body. The white areas were all different varitions like you would find on clowns.

Anyone know what they might be by my description? Tried doing a google search but that turns up nothing when you know nothing about the fish. :spin2:

Thanks Mel that be the one. My wife almost purchased one lastnight..
Course I read now that they aren't Reef compatible. This will make about the 6th fish she can't have in our tank..

I'll bet that spare 90 could become a Fish only tank soon if it dosen't sell..

I can completely relate Dave. A fish only tank is on my agenda in the future. Let her know though... at a max size of 28", you'd eventually need bigger than a 90g if she really wants that fish. :D

Cully I'm spending the money on those trust me.. I'm taking out a small size loan to go the swap ;)

Damn thats a big fish Mel. I explained to her that is why we need to research all fish and corals. No impulse buys... whew that was close...

I had a sweetlips last year, and it is, indeed, a beautiful fish. Even though they are not considered reef safe, I found that mine did not bother with the corals or even act aggressive towards the smaller fish as long as he was well fed.

it is on my list to add to the 125g aggressive.

Most sweetlips are best left in the wild.

As long as people keep buying them, collectors will keep catching them.

And unfortunately many people will buy them without realizing what they are getting themselves and the fish into.

Thanks for all the information.

Gary that link says it all. Cross that fish off the list no matter what. Leave them for the wild..

Looks good Kat. You stated you had? Mind if I ask what happened?

I don't know which tank catastrophe he was a victim of. However, now with the info i'm seeing here...

Gary, should these guys NOT be for sale? Because they are becoming quite common at LFS.
