I have a purple pseudochromis I have been qt-ing for 2 weeks. I have done numerous water changes and keep the heat at 78 degrees. the SG is at 1.012. the fish acts fine and eats anything but his fins are chewed up and has a couple of white smudges. also I keep the PH at 7.9- ish it tends to fall easy.

what is it? and what can I do?

I have been told it was a bacteria issue that is worsened by ph swinging. with hyposalinity can I use a bacteria medication? or do I need to bring the SG to deal with it?

Your SG is a tad high for hyposalinty, should be 1.009 - 1.010 to be effective. Use buffer's for the pH. Antibiotics are usable in hypo for bacterial problems.
