fish limit for a 280

I have a 72x30x30 with relatively low amounts of rock. There's a lot of swimming room and I'm tryign to figure out how many fish is too many

I currently have

1 3-4" redsea sailfin
1 4" two-barred rabbitfish
1 foxface
1 2" juvenile emperator angel
4 clown fish
10 1" chromis

I wanted to add a crosshatch trigger pair.... if i did, could I add anymore fish?

I am thinking about
blue tang
mimic tang
achilles tang

Could I add 3 blue tangs + the crosshatch trigger pair + either the mimic or achilles?

I'd say it depends on the type of fish and how often you want to do water changes. Tangs can produce alot of waste

That's a lot of BIG fish (or at least fish that will soon be big)... I would probably stick with just one trigger and maybe one or two other tangs, then skim the heck out of the tank...

2 percula clowns
1 blue damsel
3 anthias
1 flame angel
1 darf purple with yellow tail angel
1 map angel
3 pj cardinals
1 australian lunar wrasse
1 flame wrasse
1 bulleye gorby
and couple others small fishes, I think I have over 20 but they have been together for years and are happy in my 210 gal/85 gal fuge set up. I used to do my water changes 10% every two weeks but have been busy so I only do it every months now. Hope this help. With tangs I notice that if you have three they tend not to fight, but with two they fight all the time.

Although, I'm definitely not saying that you couldn't add some more "small" fish that occupy different parts of the tank. Most of the fish you have listed get rather large and swim A LOT and even though you have a nice size tank that can accomodate that type of fish, it may not be large enough for SEVERAL large fish that swim a lot.

I'll stick with what I said before though... you could probably get away with a few more large "always-in-motion" fish, but I would start creating a list of smaller, sand-dwelling and rock-dwelling fish that IMO make reef tanks all the more interesting.

thanks for the advice. I don't have any sand, but could get a hawkfish or other rock dwelling fish. Maybe I should get some anthias - although they are big bioload for small fish.

I guess I won't be getting the crosshatch triggers.
