Fish List for 180 v1.0 comments and suggestions welcomed

Flasher wrasses are fun to have but you need a cover that has no holes more than 1/4 inch.
Here is one you don't see everyday, and I caught him flashing last night.
My pintail (Attenuatus) flasher.

aleonn - It's so hard to narrow down the list with so many colorful fish. The latest bradleyj posted looks like it may be a contender as well!

bradleyj - That is so pretty. Where did you order it from or was it a local fish store. I am going to do some reading up on that one. The colors are amazing. Are you keeping more than one?

Anyone else with pictures of their flasher wrasses please post

My 180 Upgrade

A bellus angel is reefsafe. I can tell you the one my friend has is at least, and they are stated as reefsafe on LA. Not the most attractive, but definately a nice fish.

Those wrasses listed are awesome as well. I would pick b/t the wrasse's and mandarins. If you do go with the wrasses do a trio of a male and two females.

Divers Den has trio's of wrasses sometimes.

BowieReefer84,
Thanks for the recommendation. The female fish looks like she would add a little bit of color. Maybe I will add an angel after all.

I am getting closer to getting actual salt water in the tank now. I have passed my tank reseal test and in the process of waiting for drill bits to start plumbing. Thanks to everyone that has posted suggestions please continue to post suggestions.

Helfrichi Firefish (Nemateleotris helfrichi)
Purple Firefish (Nemateleotris decora)
Firefish (Nemateleotris magnifica)

I just got a Line Spot Flasher Wrasse about 10 days ago. he is currently living in my QT with a bicolor blenny that came from the same tank at the LFS. He so far seems fairly personable and is eating flake, and mysis very well. Seems like a godd fish so far.

I also have a 180g mixed reef and think and had considered a Helfrichi firefish. However, after lots of reading on RC I was advised not to get one, as my active tangs (I have a blue, yellow, naso, and Kole) may intimidate firefish into hiding. Plus I have a nasty mystery wrasse that picks on new arrivals that are his size or smaller. I think a firefish would be okay with most of your stocking list, however.

Angelfish of the genicanthus species are generally considered to be reef safe (Bellus, Lamark's, Spotbreast angels). I was considering a pair of bellus angelfish until I saw their price :).

As for reef safe butterflies, there are the yellow pyramid and zoster butterflies.

I would love to have a combo of some of the flasher/fairy wrasses you mentioned, but can't until I catch my mystery wrasse.

HTH!

bamf25- - Do you have any pictures of your fish by any chance? How long are you keeping him in QT and and what if anything are you dosing in regards to medication?

aleonn - Thanks for the information. I think I remember seeing your stocking list and your fish seemed a little more aggressive than what I have planned. It was almost one of those impulse buys. I have had them in the pass before I was convinced covering the top of the tank was essential but now I will have a different mix of fish.

The aggression of the mystery wrasse is one of the reasons it did not make my list hopefully you will be able to catch the one your have.
