fish not eating pods

I have a 72 gallon bow with a HOB fuge. I have a yellow tang, two clowns, purple pseudochromi and a 6 line wrasse. I have had an outbreak of algae lately so I have been underfeeding the tank, or so I thought. Occasionally a dead pod will come in the tank and I have never noticed any of the fish eat them. I figured that now that I am underfeeding the tank that they would be eating the pods but I just watched one for a couple of minutes in my tank and everyone noticed it but no one ate it. The clowns both took it then spit it out. I figured the tang wouldnt touch it but arent the 6line and the pseudochromi both meat eaters? They both barely looked at it. Could this mean that I am still overfeeding the tank? Could it mean my pods just taste bad? Could it mean I got a couple of meateaters that dont eat meat?

Maybe it is not a pod but rather a molt from a pod and therefore neither meaty or tasty? You may be correct also in that while you are feeding less, you may still be feeding plenty for their needs. How much and how often do you feed?

Once a day but I will skip a day or two a week. Just a pinch for the tank. I used to feed algae to the tang but with the outbreak there really hasnt been any reason to anymore.

That's about all I feed and my fish stay very fat. I'd up the water changes and maybe shorten your lighting period by a couple hours.

You may be right about the molt as the pods never move when they are floating, I just figured they were dead.
