Fish Pros big ups.

I know everybody likes to see the current state of fish pros lfs. Well I stop in a couple times a week on my way home from work. I see many changes in the shop and not from a single visit, but from watching their tanks a few times a week and observing the changes and such. I have seen some of the sps frags start to color up as opposed to slowly degrading. Most of the new corals I see them bring in are beginning to improve and color up which is an vast improvement from the past. I am getting to know Rick, and am always excited to go in the shop to chat tanks and corals with him, Corey and Tyler. Rick has tons of experence working and maintaining huge reef systems and I can see that starting to show in their animal husbandry. It's become a cool place to stop in and talk reef. I am always greeted quickly and they seem to always be able to make time for my questions and comments. This has not always been my experence there, but I can see that they are making a significant effort to change the way they do things as a whole. Rick is a great resource I am learning as far a a wide range of knowledge and a information regarding reefkeeping in general. Just my thoughts on the way things are going there these days. I hope the store continues to improve, I think we all would like a reliable source for everything resting in the area.

That's what sites under development often look like. Lots of placeholder images and text. Latin text is used to focus attention on layout, not text content. Clients are notorious for suggesting text content changes when they should be looking at page design, color scheme, navigation and fonts.

Normally websites are not pushed live in that condition. That's what development servers are for.

They were talking about how that's a high priority for the guys at fish pros and said that it was being addressed.

OK, I call BS! :)

It's been that way for at least a year! Copyright date is 2013!!

They should have only one page, Location, hours and phone number. Pic of storefront.

Fix the rest BEFORE going public! It's like putting an ad in the newspaper (remember those?) with Lorem Ipsom text.

While I'm ranting...

They should also answer their phone and get an answering service. PIA to call, call, call, call all busy.

I agree they are getting the livestock in order. They need some business smarts too.

I was going to head there but decided to get a hair cut instead. I'll go today hoping to see progress. I was in there about a month ago so I'm hoping to see something positive.

I was in the shop today and they told me they are getting 6 new flaming prawn gobys tomorrow they had 2 in a couple weeks ago and I bought both of them and they are the coolest little fish I have ever had the pleasure of watching. They were a steal of a deal and I am thinking of getting a couple more to make a little school of them they are very social and live in loose groups in the wild. This is a stock image I have yet to be able to get a good pic of them.

I was also there yesterday. Must have missed ya, shades! :)

They are improving. There's a new coral flat going in. Finally a tank clean enough to see into!

Talking to Rick (IIRC, the manager) they are going to be adding lots of new equipment to improve the water quality it all the tanks. And my personal favorite, they will be replacing the screaming pump that rots a hole in my brain! :)

Rick was asking for input as to what to stock for dry goods. I suggested salifert kits, good quality carbon and Gfo, ati and/or geisseman t5 bulbs and some other odds and ends. So, let him know if there's items that you regularly use that you would like to purchase local.

Was there today. I got to say the layout of the larger frag tank and the two new sumps are making me smile. There were some items I wanted to point out but I wanted this to be a positive post which it is. Can't wait to see the setups and their explanation for choosing hardware. Doser or reactor, what lighting, which topoff, gfo/carbon usage etc... I will say I got stuck looking at a freshwater pico tank which no more than 1-2 gallons. That thing had shrimps, live plants, fish etc....

I saw that little tank too looks pretty cool. I also was really tempted to buy one of the cubes on the counter but never got a price for it.

They seem to be willing to sell most unused equipment that's laying around the store. I asked about a t 5 fixture that was in the back and they were happy to sell it To me for a very fair price.
