40g 36" long will have softies. I would like to build around sixline wrasse and starry blenny with possibly one or two more fish.
Sixline wrasse
Starry blenny
What other 2 fish can you recommend? thanks

Clown gobies aren't normal gobies. They're perching fish, remind me a lot of hawkfosh. They're much smaller then hawkfish though. very cute too!

Clown gobies don't move sand.
Did you lose your other thread on this subject?
I guess I did. I checked out clown goby and seems to be a good candidate for my tank. Can you house two of them without fighting?
I think I'm taking the sixline out of the line up. I'm so limited with the number of fish I can have and I'm trying to be careful.

I'm doing a 100x45x45 (875G) reef tank doing clams, the soft and stoney corals, mushrooms and and really anything else I can fit in the tank. the only fish I wanna do are Tangs(esp Black) and exotic clowns. A couple of gobys for sand sifting and star stars. Now the dumb question.... How many different paired species of clowns can i get away with in a tank this size. tangs would be yellow, purple, powder brown, sailfin, chevron, black spot,a whitetail and a couple of regals. And in a few months after the crazy powder blue

If you really want input on your fish selection you should start your own thread. This post will get buried in this thread which is about stocking a 40 gallon tank.

Good luck with your tank.

Options I have considered for an upcoming 38 gallon tank-

Royal gramma/small dottybacks & basslets
Clownfish (ocellaris, percula)
Blennies (Midas, ember, twospot, starry)
Firefish (regular, purple, helfrichi)
Wrasses (possum, pink streaked)
Gobies
Coral beauty or flame angelfish

Liveaquaria.com has a list of fish for nano aquariums as well

My personal theory of stocking a reef - you start with the royal gramma and then debate everything else. :-)

Hope this helps!

If you already have the sixline, dont plan on putting any other wrasses in there.

Sixlines arent known for their peaceful temperment. If it's already in your tank, you can also expect to possibly have a hard time adding any other tank mates.
