fish stocking list. Help

my levels have been this for the past month and a half

calcium - 520ppm
phosphate - 0.0-.25ppm
nitrite - 0ppm
nitrate - 0ppm
alk - 179ppm
ammonia - 0ppm
Ph - 8.2

using red sea test kits and API.

i check my levels every other day.

You can do whatever you want, we're not stopping you by any means. But almost every single tank with the exception of very few run Protein skimmers. And its not because they are pointless and unneeded. I'm also a very young reef, 17. But take the advice from the people on this forum. They're not stupid...

Also a month a half isn't very long... Are you dosing?

i am not dosing anything right now but most likely will add GFO in the future.

and im not not listening to there advice but since iv posted this im really looking into a skimmer but ik i can do it with out. i am not believing that i was wrong about not alot of water changes and actually just did a 10 gallon water change not much but its a start :p

For phosphates (especially phosphates), calc, and alk, API are not very accurate tests.

I tried to use those those but didnt trust them due to inconsistant readings over multiple tests. I went to the store and replaced the calc and alk for Red Sea Pro. Made a huge difference.

Phos with a reading of 0.0-0.25 is too wide of a range.

If you dont beleive in water changes, then dont do them and let us know how that works out. Do I think it will be effective? No.

But not doing water changes and no skimmer means your not exporting any nutrients. They are just going to build up in your system.

.03 is bad for a 3 month old tank.

After reading all your posts on here I have come to the conclusion that your a newb that does what newbs do. Don't listen and kill fish and corals.

That tank will crash on you and you won't do wc so you won't save it. You have your tail between your legs and crying for help on here.

Take the help or don't ask at all. .03 is bad mine has never gone bast .01 buddy :)

Here's some non-skimmer related advice. With regards to the anthias...males are typically more expensive. Just save your money and get all females...one will eventually turn male.

Actually my tank is about 5 months old now and .03 ane below are recommended. I guess that's cool that You have urs at .01 but I'm pretty dam happy with .03 because Iv only done one small water change and I have no skimmer. But I guess it will crash if you say so. I'll let you know when it does. But honestly I don't think u read this whole thread because I have stated I was wrong on water changes and will be doing them now.

Another question for you. Will everyone's tank crash that isn't as good as yours?

He is referring to you not using a skimmer and not doing water changes. No reason to get nasty.

I even missed your comment about changing your mind on water changes.

But if you do a water change once a week you should be fine.

But you do need some way of getting the nutrients out of the tank. Its one of the basics of tanks.

I know you dont wanna run a skimmer and thats fine if you wanna go skimmerless. But keep in mind, every 3 days, my skimmer pulls about 1 inch of green thick nasty gunk. That stuff is staying in your tank since your not using a skimmer.
