hello guys and gals.....im pickup a new tank real soon (tomorrow)...and i kinda wanted to start a fish list....sure i could research all the fish that im interested in and then check their compatibilities...but in all honesty....i dont know what i want

tank is going to be a standard 90 gal (thx CKreef) ...and here's the fish that i already from my previous setups

yellow tang
3 occ clowns
blue chromis
onyx clown
sixline wrasse
pygmy angel

any suggestions as to what will be good to add to that?...i know i'll be getting rid of 2 of the clowns...since i dont want them to fight.....and adding the sixline and angel last since thats what most people will suggest

what have you guys been happy with?

Chuck's anthias ARE gorgeous. Thats one in his avatar.

No tangs, John?

Also, don't forget some of the cooler wrasses. Maybe a blue sided (flanked) or a solaris or what not. :)

Oh yeah... check out the Japanese Pygmy Angels. Absolutely gorgeous!

BUT... they're like $1200... :D

We just bought 2 anthias off of CKReef and they freakin' rock! They're absolutely beautiful fish and they swim around like crazy. I don't know if they are just well conditioned or if it's common with their disposition, but they eat out of my hand when I feed. It's great!

Get yourself a goby/shrimp combo...they're super fun to watch.

ouuu...goby/shrimp combo...always wanted to try that...

and yes brandon, i do want another tang....every nemo needs a dori...so thats definitely a finish that im considering....and i dont think i can have more than 1 wrasse...and i really like my sixline

and norman...o do like the rabbit fish....but the tang is already a nice big yellow fish....and i dont like too much yellow...thx though

im definitely interested in anthias...but i think that'll happen when i get a bigger tank....from what i remember, i think a 90 is considered too small for them

IF you get a dori and anthias, I hope you have better luck then I did when my dori decided to kill the anthias..... $100 down the drain real quick......Have you thought about Kole Tangs? I personally do not care much for my foxface, another shy fish that we rarely see swimming around. But she knows the nori bag real well though, about the only time she comes out for me.....IF I could start over with my fish list, I think I would get some of the following fish because of their habits and some are GREAT algae eaters: Convict Tang, Lavender Tang, Tomini Tang, Kole Tang, and Chevron Tang. I love my Velvet Wrasse, but have seen other really cool wrasse at Critters, like the mystery wrasse they have right now. Blue Chromis are neat as well....

i probably wont be keeping the blue tang and anthias together this time around..... maybe when i get a tank larger than 180 gallons

and i wont have more than 2 tangs in this 90...and really want a blue tang...so i think a kole is out of the question mikey....those tangs are really great suggestions though

i think ive decided to add only small fish to this tank....easy on maintenance and such...and low bioload

You might get away with 3 occ clowns if there isn't already 2 established females. Unlikely depending on how long you've had them...

FWIW I love fire fish, but if you get them you'd be better off getting a little group (3). They really like to hang out.

Oh, and I second the vote on goby/shrimp combos. We wanted to stay barebottom on the new tank, so we decided to keep a nano just for these buggers. Definitely interesting to watch and a crowd pleaser with the non-reef people who have never heard of such a thing. If you're looking for colorful, go with a Yasa Hashe (White Ray Shrimp Goby) and a Randall's Shrimp. Just be prepared for some serious digging in the vicinity of the shrimps burrow and an occasional sandstorm when he decides to make a new chamber to his home.

i was thinkin a firefish too brian....i like the purple one...you think he'll be okay by himself?...i really dont want 3

hey john My oldest daughter(16) wanted to know what size tank I would need for a sea turtle....LOL I bet the stocking list for that tank is endless.

John,

You must remember, blue tang (Regal Tang) are pretty fast growers and they do get big! Mine have more then double it's size within one year period and I've had her for almost 2 years. That Yellow Tang you got from me, like I told you, I've had it for 4 years and it's a pretty slow grower. My Naso Tang grows really slow and I've had him for about 4 years as well. I haven't notice much growth for Foxface or Tomini Tang. I've had both of them about a year. When I get ready to get a big tank, that's where all my big tangs are going into.

you should keep purple fire fish single unless a mated pair I have read.

I've heard this as well. What I was told ( by a pretty informed source) is as juveniles a group will hang together but as they reach sexual maturity they begin to compete for dominance and of course in a tank there's no new territory for the looser(s) to swim off to so they end up as work for the clean up crew.
