Fish Tank Bounty Hunters Needed!

Morning everyone. Our store was broken into Thursday night. They flipped the main power switch near the electric meter (to turn off the cameras), and broke through the back door to get inside. Here is where it gets strange....

They only took a 72 gallon setup. No cash, no pods, no chillers, no halide fixtures. Just the setup - and everything that goes with it.

Here is what was stolen -

Black 72 Bowfront Drilled Aquarium
Black Pine Stand
MARINELAND T-5 lighting fixture (not too common - new product)
Plumbing Kit (so they knew what they were doing)
3 bags of salt
4 bags of live sand
Mag Drive 1200

NOTE TO FELLOW STORE OWNERS...no glass tops were included, and they will need them with this T-5 strip (no legs). Just be aware if someone orders just a 72 bow versa top...

We are offering a reward of $150.00 to anyone that has any info that would lead to the arrest of these bad, bad people!

Thanks guys!

Greg

Holy @#!!, I'm sorry you guys! This is horrible. Definitely sounds like somebody knew what they were gong for.

it's hard to believe that someone will risk jail time over a fish tank:confused: ,it's a small tight group of people here, you should be able to find something, again good luck catching the bad guys.
sincerely WWC.

Unbelievable...........

Hope your livestock is Ok!

Maybe time for a battery back up on the camera and recorder......

How strange. Almost sounds like someone said they wanted this set up for christmas and then someone went out and stole it for them. Any other stores in the area have any sec cameras set up that might have caught a car, suspect, ect?

Like another poster mentioned maybe there were security cameras in the area that may have caught the vehicle or the like in the theft.
Its ashame that people have to steal stuff like this and I hope they get caught.
Hope the power being flipped off didn't cause you any other problems as this was more than enough

Sorry to hear that, but definitely sounds like they knew how your store it’s set up. Also if the thief was a pro it would of clean the store up. Really weird, a low life reefer. Good luck catching the thief and putting him/her behind bars.

I agree, it could have been so much worse. We think it was also someone who has been in a few times - which is even a more sickening feeling! Thanks for all your help and concerns guys.

Sad, but it sounds more like the work of an employee, former employee, or a friend of one for them to know to turn off the power, and where to turn it off at.

Unbelievable... sorry guys.

I'm with the other posters who suggested trying to find anyone near by who might have had a security camera running, anywhere near your building.

They stole a tank... which they'd have to have a vehicle near by to make their get away. It's not like they would have been getting away on foot.

And for what it's worth, you might want to reach out to the other LFS's ie SITC. I know she just went through a similar criminal assault at her store. Between all of you LFS's may be you might be able to come up with a plan to thwart future problems.

It's ridiculous to even have to deal with this at this time of year. You can believe you have many many friendly eyes out there who'll be watching out to see if and where this tank pops up.

Oh yeah, keep your eyes on the classifieds... you never know...

I hope you will post the names of the people who did this, so we can indulge in some public humiliation!
Good luck Greg, people never cease to amaze me!

Just for those of you checking ebay and craigslist like myself, there is a 72g bowfront on ebay from apopka, but it is Tony, someone well known by all the fish store guys who sells tanks all the time.

Greg, you make want to get w/ tony and see if he can keep an eye out for it, you know how is w/ finding those sweet tank deals nobody ever finds out about.
