fish that eat red bugs

Is their any fish that eat red bugs? One of my green-yellow staghorn had three red bugs on it. And my Miami Orchid was losing its color. I did dip them. My but my Tenuis, Tri Color, Green Slimer, blue staghorn and other acropora's do not have any red bugs on them.

I believe at one point I had them on a maricultured piece that I bought. I was wondering why my sixline wrasse was paying so much attention to it, then I realized what he was pecking at. I don't know if I still have them, but the sixline was eating them and continues to pick at little things on the corals from time to time.

I'm pretty sure most of the reef-safe wrasses, and even the hard to keep leopard wrasses help[ control/wipe out some of the sps pests we commonly hear about.

The six line wrasse will as will pipefish. You can also use Interceptor.

A dragon face pipefish has been known to eat them. But it's probably hit and miss. Like peppermint shrimp and aptasia(mine wouldn't touch any aptasia). The only permanent solution is Interceptor, which I highly recommend. It is so easy and really works!

the recommended amount is a whole 2.3mg pill for that size tank. I used that amount and wasn't happy so i used 1.5-2 -> 2.3mg pills and it seemed to do the trick a bit better.

i have a 40g too.

defiantly do atleast 3 doses. i did 3 and noticed a few (3-4) left after my last dose so i dosed a 4th and havnt seen them since.

i warmed the water that had the interceptor in it (to help it dissolve more) and blasted them with a turkey baster. i did a water change on the first and last dose and ran carbon 12 hours after i dosed each time.

good luck, it seems scary but the only thing you need to worry about is crabs, shrimp, pods, etc. when i doses the sps almost opened up more and after everything was done they looked so much better.

So I only need one pill for my tank. Also, I do not have any shrimp but I do have a clam. Should I take the clam out of the tank?

youll need one 2.3mg pill per dose. you can get a pack of 12 i think for 20 bucks. but like i said, i up'd my doses but i had a pretty bad case of them. i have heard of trying to get rid of them with different animals to be very rare.

they aren't easy,, but a leopard wrasse will eat read bugs

Would a Mandarin or Pipefish eat them?

I highly doubt a mandarin will. The only pipefish that is known to eat them is the dragon-face pipefish.

i can understand why u would want to use a natural predator but the can only reduce the number of red bugs. They might not even eat them at all and you just end up adding to the bioload of the system. Your best bet is to use interceptor.

Interceptor will kill all your hermits and crabs so make sure you remove them before u do the three doses that are required. This is the only way to guarantee u get rid of them. Even though they aren't on your other acros they will migrate to them soon enough.
