Fish trap

Does anyone in the club have a fish trap for a large (7 in size) Tang ( Blue Spotted Naso Tang ) I am wanting to catch and find a new home for. I have had it for around 6 months and it's getting too big and knocking over corals frequently. Great looking fish with bright blue lips. Looking for 75.00 and a good maybe fish only 180gal or larger home. Thanks for looking! If you can loan a trap just send a PM Thanks Bill

I caught mine by making my own trap. I used a 2 liter coke bottle w/ the top cut off and tied back to it w/ fishing line. Then put food in it, when fish swims in, pull line to close top. Took about fifteen min for it to swim in then pull the line to catch it. I found plans to make the trap on net seach for diy fish traps.

I never had luck with the home made traps :( I made a very elaborate one once and never caught a thing but am very impatient!! I think the club should also concider getting a big trap for all to use since it seems to come up ofter needing to remove fish.... Good luck bill!

I caught a three line damsel with this homemade bottle trap..it was smaller...20 0z.bottle..but it does work..just gotta have patience and let the fish get comfortable with it..put your food in the back of the bottle.

i tried the homemade fish trap, and a borrowed one for a wrasse. the wrasse figured it out. i ended up catching him with a tiny hook with the barb removed and a piece of clam. it took about 3 seconds.

That cool, I'll get a hook and try in tha AM. Sometime's it's the simple things that work! Thanks for the Hook Up! HaHaHa.

there were a couple little problems...first, catching JUST the wrasse, cause they ALL went for it!

second, once i hooked him, i started lifting him out of the tank, and he flipped up and broke my XM bulb!! the fish was fine...not a scratch, but the bulb cost more than the dang fish did! so i would suggest, hooking him, then scooping him with the net. :)
