Fixing cracked glass

I am playing around with the idea of getting a 46 gallon bow-front, but the left panel was cracked in storage. You can see it running up the side... I have zero knowledge on what it would take to repair such a crack, how much it would cost, or how stable it would be upon repiar.

ideas? volunteers? :)

You can get Qtr plate from your local glass shop cut to fit (Dont use the HomeDepot/Lowe's stuff-too thin). You can use a Razor knife to cut the silicone and then scrape the edges clean - use alcohol wipe down prior to applying new silicone (aquarium silicone only) to clean off all oils and fingerprints from the glue area. Use latex/nitrile gloves so you dont get the silicone all over your fingers and to make a nice filleted edge inside the tank & just clean off the excess that squeezes out the seams on the outside. Use masking/painter's tape to hold the glass for 24hrs until the silicone has cured and 48 hrs before water test (leaks). Biggest hurdle will be removing the trim to get to the old glass as sometimes the trim is glued on using the still wet silicon as the tank was originally built at the factory. the glass and silicon probably is about $20-$25 is parts - dont know what a LFS up in your area would charge for a new tank and there is alway R/C used forum and CraigsList too... :)

Better off just getting a new tank. Too much work is involved in replacing that pane. Plus you will sleep better at night with a new one lol!

There is definitely the sleep factor! Thanks for the info, I think you're right. It was just a steal for a bowfront, I wasn't sure if fixing it would be a problem!
