Was just curious tonight and deciced to try a little test. I was measuring my Phosphate levels and came up with 0 as usual. So I decided to put a very small pinch of ground up fine flake food into the vial. I then retested the water. WOW off the chart blue.
An eye opener for sure.

flake

flake

I read before that flake is one of the worst for phosphates and people over feed with it all the time

it is so easy to fall into the trap too it makes life easy and so we do it time and again

have fun

also look at the list of foods and you will see copper sulfate as well. gotta love the adding of copper and phosphates all in one shot...does the reef good.

Go with frozen or fresh foods. I have stayed well away from flake foods for a long time. Even with my FW tank I feed them silversides and mysis! LOL

I have been staying away for quite a while. I usually feeed mysis and krill. Just wanted to see how bad it really was. I may etsy some frozen food and see what that tells me.
