Flame Angel Food

What do you feed your Flame Angel? I purchased some frozed Pygmy Angel food, but it is glued together and will not really thaw and spread out in the tank. The Flame eats formula 2 flake fairly well and brine shrimp but nothing else. I would like to feed him more of a variety and keep him healthy. Thanks,

Not sure what's in Formula II - I don't use those for the reasons you mentioned because they have a gel binder

I feed mine mysis, cycloplopeeze*, phyto loaded brine, other frozen plankton, angel formulas with sponge & mixtures with frozen macros - I also have an algae tank that I take caulerpa from to feed the flames

* be careful about giving too much of this as it has been reported that it can clog up their systems

Mysis is probably the main staple - but it's important for flames to get some greens, too

HTH :)

One more thing - i don't keep a "sterile" tank - I allow some diatom growth and lots of sponges (not sure if the flames nibble on the sponges though)

try some spectrum...all my fish eat it including my watanabe and Venustus angel
I was just looking at Spectrum at the LFS today - which one do you use?
On that note I forgot to mention that I have some Naturerose which I enrich 24 hour old artemia with - it's high in astaxanthin

I use just the basic...they are all the same formula according to the creator. Ive been using it for about 3 months now and all my fish seem to love it. Even harder to feed fish like the venustus angel went right to it....I used to always feed froozen and nori before but now this is pretty much all I feed now...

Spectrum pellets are eaten by most of my large angels (goldflake, bluespot, flagfins, regals, asfur, blueface, emperor, etc.) altough the dwarf's don't eat it as often or with as much vigor as the large angels.
