Flame angel with hlle

My flame angel has been exhibiting signs of hlle for several weeks now....his face keeps getting whiter and whiter. I'm thinking it is lack of nutrition as I usually only feed the fish once a day. I normally feed new life spectrum pellets or rods food. I occasionally will feed mysis. Is there any way to increase the flames nutrition to see if that is the cause? Feeding more times per day? Haven't really tried nori, but he only occasionally eats that in rods food.

IMO IME, the #1 requirement for healthy FAs is plenty of MATURE LR. If this is HLLe; I don't think anyone really knows the cause; i could list a dozen things that have been blamed and there is a lot of anecdotal evidence to support most claims. But, I've never seen a valid study that links HLLE to anything. A pic would really help; a whitish face may not be HLLE.

Tank had been running since November....I had three pieces of live rock I bought from Lfs and the rest was dead brs reef saver rock...I will try to post a pic later...barely any algae in my system with my cleanup crew

In case it is nutrition-related, I would feed a greater variety of foods and feed twice a day for a while. In addition to the NLS pellets and Rods, up the amount of mysis, and add spirulina-enriched brine shrimp, Omega One veggie flakes, fresh chopped seafood from the grocery store, and an angel forumla. Put some nori it for a while. Also, soak the foods in Selcon and Vita-Chem.

Also, remove any carbon you might have running and make sure you have no electrical current leaking into the tank.

As Mr. Tuskfish notes, no one knows the cause of hlle but these steps will address many of the items to which hlle is attributed. Also, they will help if it isn't hlle but otherwise is related to nutrition.
