Flame Angel

Reef safe? or no? I've heard mixed reviews on them, also heard they should be the last fish added to a tank...is that true? Thanks

I'd search as i have not only read like 5 threads this week about flame angels but there a million out there...

Reef safe- depends on the individual fish, some are known to be while other people experience something different. Normally the smaller the angel is when you get it, the better your chances are of it staying reef safe.

Last fish- depends on the size of your tank and other inhabitants

Lots of threads on Flame Angels in reef tanks, all with the same advice.

If there is a less useful piece of advice than 'it should be the last fish added', I've not heard it. Sure, in principal, fish should be added in from least to most aggressive, however, in practice this proves to be essentially impossible. Fish don't arrive in the LFS in such convenient ways, and fish die - what to do then? Invest in an acclimation box and a small mirror.

Plan on no. Seems to be about 50/50. Some like fleshy brain corals, some Zoas, some clams, some SPS, some nothing. Mine nips at SPS in my mixed reef. What corals do you have, and which would you rather have is the question...
