Flame Angels Courtship and Spawn

You cannot have more than one Male angel in a tank. In the past I have problem with Male Cherub and male Flameback in a 420 gal tank.

Awesome, and I miss mine/my wife's. I have tried to pair again with no luck? Maybe a friend can help me out? I don't mind the drive to Corpus

Alton,
They should be very easy. Just make sure you don't get it two males in the tank. They are dimorphic so it is really easy to tell male from female.
I assume that pairing does not work out for you due to fighting?

The coloration and the amount of blue or black stripe is not as accurate becasue these varies according to locality. The shape of the fish and the shape of the fins are constant and can be use to sex Flame angels.

But are these physical characteristics only identifiable when the fish mature?

Flame angels and almost all the angels are protogynous (proto -first, gyno -female) hermaprodites. They are born immature, become females. The dominate female change sex and become male.
