Flame Hawk Attack

Has anyone ever had a Flame Hawk that attached other fish. I purchased one about two weeks ago. He has not messed with my shrimp. Got up this morning and something had attached my Chromis and he was missing an eye. Surprisingly enough the Chromis was still alive. Got home tonight and notice my blue spotted Jawfish was all beat up. When I fed I saw my hawk fish attacking him. I have caught the jaw fish and he is a small in tank refugium that I have. I have a fish trap trying to catch the hawk fish. I have had hawk before and I have never had one do this.

I've had two flame hawks and neither has exhibited significant aggression towards other fish. My current hawk and my Melanurus wrasse have a bit of an ongoing disagreement but it seems entirely fueled by the Melanurus and has never resulted in physical damage to either fish.

I've had a Flame and neveer saw that kind of aggression but it used to tease/play with my large female clown. She was bigger and gave better than she got but the hawk would just sit there in front of her and annoy her until she chased it off. There was no contact but she could stick up for herself.

I have heard about Hawks taking on chromis but not this species. It also doesn't surprise me with the jawfish as they are pretty timid and only really have their wide gap as a defence.

Someone on here reported watching their flame hawkfish straight-up murder a prawn goby right in front of them. Others posited that the only reason they could possibly think of for such agression would be that the goby was trying to protecting a pistol shrimp that the hawkfish wanted to eat. I wish I could find the post.

some Hawks can be vey aggressive and eat smaller fish/crustaceans...thats why my Red Banded is livng in my fuge until I can find it a better home..
