"Flame" RBTA?

I stumbled across this guy mixed in with about 8 other RBTA's. Reminds me of phender's moreso than the other one making its rounds. It has decided to settle in right under my Reeflux 10k bulb so it was difficult to get a good pic showing the true colors but here you go regardless.

Very nice! It is similar in color to mine. The white flecks make your's unique.

I actually liked mine more when I first got it. There were a lot more subtle color variations of pink, orange, yellow and green. Now its just all bright orange.

Hey Phil,

I was hoping you would chime in. I liked yours when you first got it as well because it had some many color variations but it looks just as nice now IMOP. Is it just the lighting or has yours also developed white tips?

My RBTA clone turned green with pink tips  and split twice.

She/he came from a mother RBTA colony. I SAW that colony in person, anybody care to explain dramatic color change? Diet, lights, ballast - no, pretty much the same.

Its a little bit from the lighting, but the tips are yellow rather the orange of the rest of the tentacle. When the anemone is "shrunk up" the tentacles are pink with yellow tips, but when it expands, everything kind of blends together.

I think the masking pigments in anemones are probably similar to the masking pigments(blues, reds, bright greens) in SPS. According to my SPS keeping friends, it's not just the light spectrum or intensity, it is also the water chemistry that determines if colors show up. Water chemistry, meaning nitrate, phosphate, magnesium, calcium, alk, etc..

triggerfish, that looks like the one i got not too long ago.
Phil's nem is very very very nice. I had the pleasure of seeing it in person. :P

Phil, do you have any high resolution pictures of the anemone? I'd love to use one as my desktop wallpaper.

I will email you two. The one above (at high resolution, you can see the red slime on the back of the tank. :( )

And this one that I think is kind of neat.

I got exactly the same type today, 2 of them, they are from Bali

Seems like these BTAs come in at different timing :)

Now that we are on this topic, wondering if anybody know what cause those "white flecks", I have seen them on green bta and rose bta. Do they ever lose those or increase? Any observations on that?

I know Phil said his lost them after awhile right?

I have seen btas with white flecks in person, but I don't think I've ever had a bta with white flecks.

Oh my mistake. I am waiting for clones of GBTA and RBTA with white flecks from my friends... and that seems forever :)

Any idea where I might find one or two of these?

Thanks in advance!

The ones I got yesterday came in a direct shipment from Bali yesterday morning (Tue Monring), I suspect if you look out at your LFS / online sites, you would see them show up this week as US is the ultimate export destination. ;)

I agree. Don't be surprised to see a couple popping up here and there. I am surprised Atlantis didn't get one.:D
