Anybody know where I can get flat base rock (dry). I checked all the local store in the Chicagoland area however I can't seem to find any pieces that are 10"-15". If I can't find any Tonga Shelf do you guys have any other ideas i.e. flagstone (but not so smooth)?

I've got some in my tank from Macrorocks. I cherry picked them out of a shipment from my LFS. They came with some HUGE flat pieces on down to 3x3 inch pieces. I drilled them easily and stacked them on a pvc tower. Worked great and look very nice. You don't have to cycle them, but you should put some LR in with them so they'll colonize. I threw mine in my sump for a month.

I checked out Macro rocks, but the website says that they are restocking the "tonga shelf" in January. Here it is March and when you click the buy button it tells you to contact the company. Plus I am looking for all large peices. I don't want to end up with 2 or 3 large pieces and 10 small peices for $90.

Call Marco and order the "cherry picks". You describe what you want, He picks them out and sends you a pic before he ships.
He has stuff in Cherry picks that isn't shown on his normal stuff.

It's not shelf but it sure is cherry.

Those look like really great pieces but I am trying to create shelving for soft coral to encrust. I e-mail Marco to find out if he had tonga shelf in stock, but unforturnately since importing out of Tonga is now illegal he has nothing in stock.

Exporting from Tongo is only restricted. Not illegal, They only allow a set amount each year,
