Flatworm Exit

Dolphin Finatic
I used it yesterday with what I felt was a major success. I went through all the precautions and it seems like everyone is pulling through, only worry I have is the anemone moved.

I had siphoned out a very big amount of worms prior to treatment and almost considered not dosing since I thought I had it under control. I was sorely mistaken. I dosed and the mass of worms that started dying was unbelievable.

Did the treatment and replaced carbon, skimmer was pulling out some nasty chocolate colored skimmate. Tank turned very yellow and I guess this was related to the toxic release by the worms.

I have no worms on the rocks that I can see, but I do see some on the glass, I may have counted 20 total out of the thousands I previously had.

My question is, should I dose again ? Try to catch the remaining survivors or is it possible they have built a resistance ?

Thanks

Tim

I would dose again before they start to increase in numbers, perhaps wait a couple of days for your livestock to catch its breath after the first treatment. I only had to dose once myself, but I believe the pollution from the dead flatworms is the biggest problem, not the poison itself. I have read where some people recommend a second dose, even if they do not see any flatworms left. I didn't do a second treatment and they never came back.

I would agree that a second dose would be a good idea. I didn't. and regret it. It only takes one of those little buggers left alive to mess up your whole tank again.

Definitely dose again and dose at higher than the recommended amount. FWE is safe, it is the toxins that are the problem. If you can see any flatworms, undoubtedly there are others hiding and they will reach their former numbers in no time.

+1 for sure.

I dosed 3 times, yet I didn't see anything after the second dose, I just wanted to be sure they were gone. And I dosed at 3-4 times the recommended amount. I would give it a week or so in between doses. Run fresh carbon in between.

Good luck

I took as many rock and coral as I could first and dipped in a bucket with Pro Coral Cure. Then did a quick fresh water rinse in a second bucket and put the rocks and coral back in. ( I was re aquascaping the tank anyways). A few days later I used Flat worm x as described and my tank is worm free.

Of coarse I now dip all coral before they enter the tank.

yep when I have dosed with this stuff I have found you eather have to do several treatments. I have also tried exceding the recomended dose and that works good too.

I have some yellow/orange flatworms. Should I try to get rid of them now? Their numbers aren't too high right now.
