Flatworms and anemones

lobsterotomy

I'd frag it.
I just got a Rose BTA from another hobbyist, and I noticed acoel flatworms in his tank.

Right now the BTA is attached to a fair sized rock, and has some zoas on the rock too.

Normally, I dip everything into TMPCC (Tropic marin pro coral cure), but I'm sure it will kill the anemone.

Wondering what I should do?

Should I try to get the anemone to let go of the rock and then just move it to the DT, and then dip the rock/corals? Will acoel flatworms stick and hitchhike on the body of the BTA?

I don't think so, you could examine it, they're easy to see and pick off if you found any. I would not worry too much. I would remove the bta and treat your zoa rock. I had a problem w/ flatworms in 2 of my tanks a year ago. I used FW exit on both, one tank contained 2 rbtas. It was a chance but they survived with no ell effects. Just thought you'd like to know. Always, always at least give new corals a fresh water dip with vigorous shaking, I like to mix the freshwater w/flatwormexit, that is a battle I don't want to fight again. The guy (Mark) at reef depot recomends diping corals in soda water, have used that too.

Yeah, I would dose with FW Exit, but I don't have any on hand. I have levamisole, TMPCC, prazipro....just not FW exit.

Could I try dipping with any of these? Or is just removing the BTA and putting it in the tank by itself enough? I'm just worried about the FW hitch hiking on the body of the BTA itself.

Personally I would be a little scared to dip a bta in anything especially since it's has been stressed by moving it. You don't have a quarentine tank? Then I'd just remove and examine it closely, stick it in a shallow bowl, it they're there you should be able to see them. I really don't think they would stick to a bta, unless around the base. HTH

Thanks for your quick replies!

The whole rock is in a qt right now, but even still, it's going to have to go into the DT, and I'm sure there will be some FW on the rock while in QT.

I suppose once it calms down a bit, I'll have a look see around the rock. Maybe it'll decide to move in the QT off the rock, in which case I'll be able to drip it separately and put it into the DT.

Well, sucessfully got it to let go of the rock it was on (powerhead to the foot) and now it's dripping. Looks happy in the bucket too :)
