Float valve and auto shutoff, does it work?

Wisher of the redo button
I just received my 5 stage 75gpd ro/di unit with an auto shut off. I usually gravity feed my top-off water from a 5 gallon bucket above my sump through a float valve.
Can I run my new RO/DI unit right to the float valve in the sump? I have a water supply solenoid cut off if the water gets too high in the sump already.

I ran the RO/DI and tried to hold the output with my thumb and I was able to stop the production but it was a ton of pressure and I wasn't sure if the float valve could handle it.

I would not recommend running your RO/DI directly to your sump, even with a fail safe. There are just too many disaster stories over the years.

The other issue with this is TDS creep. An RODI is meant to make a lot of water at once. If you make just a bit at a time, the water from the RO stage is not as clean as it will be after it runs a bit and the DI stage will be doing a lot of extra work. You will go through DI like crazy.
