Floating Poll - Picture Posting

With all of the stunning pictures we post daily, it seems that sometimes the forum gets clogged with a half page of just picture threads. Then all of those great pics are moved off the first page in a day or two and only a few reefers like me get to see them. Many will never see them because they may not think to check page 2, 3 and 4 etc for anything they might have missed. If the pictures are posted in the photo sticky at the top of page 1, they will always be there for everyone to see them daily. With that, I thought of creating this poll to see what everyone else thinks. Of course no one can make you do it, was just thinking that it might help unclog the forum that sometimes gets cluttered with many picture threads such as new arrivals, colorfuls, new polyps etc.

Do you think it would be best for the forum to post all pictures in the photo sticky at the top of the page or just leave it the way it is? We could reserve pictures in the actual threads when reefers have a problem or issue in which a picture might be necessary to get the help one needs.

If there is a sticky for pictures already there for everyone to see them daily, I don't know why anyone wouldn't utilize it to share all of there great pictures. I mean, that's the reason they are posted, to share. I voted to post them in the picture sticky because it frees up a lot of much needed thread space. Just my 2 cents.

Just curious, what's the logic of not posting them all together in the sticky for everyone to see? What happens when the whole forum becomes nothing but picture post? Can anyone weigh in with their opinion.

well it could possibly work.
I think that if they implemented a system.

Mabey like they could have a list of all the zoas in a stickey, and if you have a picture of it then you click on that one.- ie nuclear green, and you post a pic of your nuc greens.
It would be a great way for people to show others their zoas, plus it could help people easily identify zoas and it would be a lot less cluttered then having a random chaos of pictures everywhere

There could also be a miscellaneous section as well.

There are thousands of zoas and plays out there, maybe more, I don't see how your idea could work. Could you share more for clarity. I think Capture's idea is to simply streamline this forum so we don't have so many threads of just pictures that only a few get to see. If all the pics were together, they would stay on the front page forever for all to see. Just makes sense to me and so much easier to find and view.

that's exactly what i was saying so pretty much you explained it for me..
So all the pics of a certain zoa would be together. It would be a lot less cluttered and people could find what they were looking for a lot easier

The photo sticky wouldn't be a database though, it's just a place to share your polyps. I think you're thinking along the lines of using the photo sticky as an indentifier or grouping of like polyps. I think we agreee but I'm missing something you're saying. Oh well, we're on the same page I guess.

I like the sticky idea!

But I do think people start threads as a way to keep track of comments about their zoas/palys.
Also, people have different skillz with a camera. Some may not like posting after a photo that looks professional.

That said, I think a central location/sticky thread is great. Hopefully, the links to the photos do not become dead links.

Hello flyyyguy, I'll take a shot at explaining it. At times we have had 6 to 10 threads in this forum with just pictures. Pictures of new arrivals, new purchases, new frags etc. Just good people wanting to share what they have, that's great. We also have a picture thread that is stickied at the top of the page for this very reason, to post pictures you want to share. If all pics are posted there, the pics will always be on the first page for everyone to see. If you post them in the forum, they will be there for maybe a day or two and many people will never see them because they will be moved on to the next page as others post or create new threads. I think Capture's point is well taken. If we all agree to post them in the sticky, it will free up much needed space for new threads. It would also place all the photos together for everyone to see everyday. I would think that would be a benefit to those who indeed enjoy sharing their pictures whether they are picture perfect or not. Perfect pictures is not the point, sharing is.

If you have an issue with your polyps and need to post a picture with your concerns, that's totally different as pictures are often needed to get help.

It would take a collective effort but I think we could do it together.

I think Mucho hit the nail on the head for me.
A photo sticky will allow people to see the new threads rather than the new 'photo threads' which seem to pop quite often.
I think it could help get people the attention they need rather than getting looked over for a photo thread.
I love photos but we could make it a one-stop shop for photos and keep the forum free for other things.

Leave as is. Stickies just add clutter and most people don't bother reading them anyways, and I highly doubt that it would really keep people from starting new threads. I think if a thread has the interest of the hobbiest it will naturally stay on the first couple of pages.

I could go either way on this one. I agree with Coralfarm123 if the interest is there it will stay current. And People are going to post new posts anyway.

Making it a sticky on the other hand, will keep all the pretty things at the top and easy to access.
