Hi Everyone!

I am with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and I'd like to share with you an announcement of the upcoming public workshops to be held around the State. We are having these workshops to discuss the proposed rule changes for both the commercial and recreational marine life (tropical ornamental) harvest. Here is a link to our press release on the workshops: FWC News - Marine life workshops scheduled

And here is a link to the detailed information about the workshops (look inside the box on the right called “New! Workshops New!”): DMFM Advisory Boards and Workgroups

If you know of anyone who would be interested in this information, please pass it along.

Thanks!

Nancy,
Just wondering... how do you measure or count Zoas, crabs, etc by the gallon or quart??? Limits are good.

I must admit I love visiting the daughter at Lighthouse Pt. Now if I can just pick up a few things off the beach. lol

Here's a link to Florida's Marine Life Rule, which will tell you the current regulations of collecting (commercially and recreationally).

For recreational harvest, only 20 individual marine life species may be harvested per day. Only 1 gallon of plants, 5 angelfish, 6 octocorals, all of which are included in the 20 aggregrate.

As for zoanthids, count polyps and make sure there's no attached substrate (live rock harvest is prohibited without proper licenses, etc.).

Hope that helps.
