flourescent orange algae

you think the algae is dying? it seems like it is spreading, there is much more than there was before. It was never exposed directly to air, but could have had more air bubbles in the water when I made the water change... can air bubbles cause the flourescence? Although, when it was flourescing a week ago there was no water change, no air bubbles, no freshwater.... ?

then you could just have flourecent algea.... pretty cool if u ask me...
but all the red algea that i had flouresce was dead/dieing.....

it floureces after being exposed to freshwater or air for too long
IME this is totally inaccurate. Corallines exposed to freshwater or air for too long turn white and die.
I've always found it easy to generate great coralline growth using regular B-ionic two part additions. (Keep levels at the upper end of optimal.)
Lighting also plays a crucial role: not all corallines thrive in the same light. Many types do not thrive in intense lighting. Some require it.
Different species of coralline are different colors.

ive been buying 1 piece of rock a week and a few weeks ago got one piece with a big patch of orange just like the pics on it! wicked i thought! im placing that so i can see it...... 2 days later its grey and gone.

last week got another piece, this time kept the orange on the under side away from the light and a week on its still there and orange so i just thought id share that with ya.

If you ever go snorkling or wading into the ocean flip over some rock and check out the corallines growing on the underside.
There are coldwater species as well as tropical ones.
Some thrive semi exposed to air and some don't. Check out this coralline. It's growth pattern makes up for it's lack of fluorescence.

I have found patches on the surface of rock that were under sand and then uncovered.

The brightest flourecent orange I have seen in an aquarium, but it dissapears in just a day to a couple days.

I thought it might be the skeleton of something after it died off after being put under sand, but some different form of algae that like that environment sounds more reasonable.
