Flow for a 6 ft. tank

Hi Everybody,

Would two MP 40's be enough flow for a 72"x22"x22" Tank?

Would anybody have other suggestions for silent powerheads?

I'd say the larger Gyre could do it solo. I'm using the smaller one on a wedge 36" and have it reined back to 60%.

Thanks for the advice. Can I ask you if that Gyre and Jabao are silent?

I am tired of noisy pumps and I have 1 mp 40 already that I know is almost silent and really want to have a quiet set up.

My old 100 gal bowfront corner tank was so very noisy with both pumps and water flow.

I find I get more noise from my sump then my power heads. I occasionally hear a slight hum from them but for the most part I can't even notice them.

I can't comment on the Gyre as I havent used them.

Gyres are quite almost silent. The only time I hear them is when everything is off and I am trying the listen for them. they did take a week to get that quite but they started just a quiet as my jeabos. I have two large ones in my 6 foot tank. Way too much but, one would blast one side of the tank. I would do two small ones, if I got to do it over again. Big ones are at 30 percent max. They move a lot of water and I love them.

I have two rw-15s on my 5ft. Just started a day ago. They're on opposite ends pointed to the middle. I now have a bare bottom tank in the middle. They're on W2 and half strength.

Some great info from the above replies - thanks everybody. Maybe I will look into adding a med sized gyre to my mp 40. That is a Max Spec Gyre - right?

I have read about Jabao knock offs on rc that sound pretty good but no info on how quiet they could be compared to Max Spec.

I can't hear my rw-15s unless they're on 100%.
