Just wondering what everybody has for flow, BB or SB.

I have about 30x in my 120g SPS dominated tank, with DSB.

I'm thinking of bumping it up to more like 50x, that is if my sand doesn't blow all over the place.

why would you need 50x flow rate? thats like 6000 gallons an hour. I have 10x set up for my 120 bb and i thought that would be enough. Can you please tell me why 50x is not to much. I am still learing please do not lash out :)
Thanks

Join the club, I'm still learning too.

It just seems that most people are anywhere from 30x on up to 100x.

It just seems that the more random flow the SPS have, the better off they are.

well, even if you turn up your flow want2reef, your sand will only blow to a certain place, and then stop "blowing" it doesnt continnually get blown around, it just blows somewhere in a pile or whatever and then stops blowing around... cause in my 75 my sand has blown to certain spots but still doesnt contunually move...............errr

SSB in my 120. I have a Dart on a closed loop and an Iwaki40RLT for sump return. Probably around 30x turnover I'de imagine.

I have 2 120g tanks. My BB SPS only tank has a Mak4 (1200gph)return pump two tunze 6060's (3150gph) and 2 Maxijet 1200's (590gph) for a total of 4900gph which is a little more than 40x turn over per hour. Believe it or not I almost which I had more! That would be a little much for my sand bottom tank but is no problem for my BB. I think flow is one of the most important factors in a SPS tank! The side affect of that much flow is crazy encrusting!

My new sand bottom tank LPS, Soft and some SPS (shallow sand bed with heavier course sand to avoid sand storms) will have a total of 2500gph ( I can't go as high with the LPS and softys.

In my bb 120 i have a panworld return 1200gpm 2 tunze 6100's and 3 seio 1500 comes out to around a turn over of 82. I am still going to add another seio in the rock work to some stuff from building up in a area in the back. I find its not all about how much turnover u have but more keeping the bad stuff in the water colom to get it to your skimmer along with enough flow for sps.

In my 120, I have 46x turnover.
Im still thinking about adding 2 more SEIO's or one more Tunze.

SEIO now has a 2600 for like 75.00 !!!
