Flow Problem

Despite a rather large GPH of flow in my tank, I still have a major problem with fish poop settling on the bottom. I think that it may be due in part to the fact that the tank is 30" tall. Anyways, I am thinking of adding a couple of nanostreams to solve this problem. How should they be positioned to keep things from settling to the bottom? Should I put them high in the tank, and point them down to the bottom? Should I put them near the bottom parallel to it? Or could I put them near the middle, pointed directly at the side, so that the water reflects off the glass and spreads out in all directions?

This is a difficult task and honestly I think periodic siphoning may be your best bet. Certain fish, most herbivores, eat gravel and have a gullet like birds to grind up the algae they eat and their poop is so dense that it is really challenging to get it all up with just flow.

easplund,

I agree with Roger additional flow may not resolve the issue completly, for 30 inch deep I would try 6080 stream or 6101 pulsing with a single controller.

Thank you both for your help. In this case, Roger is absolutely right. I just added a Kole Tang to my aquarium, and it is his poops that are building up. I have a four side viewable tank, so I really have no place to hide a full size stream, anyway. I guess that I just have to do more frequent water changes.
