Flow question

Hi - my 225g (72x30x24) is currently already setup with 2 Wav's, 1 Gyre 150, and 1 mp40. I think i need to add more flow once i start adding my SPS (all in my frag tank).

Im re-thinking my plan to get just two mp60's for the tank.

Are two mp60's enough flow for a 225 which will be SPS only?

I would think that would be plenty, I have two MP 40s and two mp10s in a sps dominant 180 that is 72" in length. I have the MP 40s on each end of the tank, and the MP tens on the back wall. There is plenty of flow for all of my SPS

Random is more important than lots of static. Gyre is not of much use to me, but the MPs on the "random" control can do pretty good.

Ok Thanks. It sounds like the better solution is keep my Wav's, mp40, and maybe add an mp60. And ditch the gyre.

Im willing to do that.

It really depends on your pump placements, aquascape and how you set them up.
I'm running a xf150, a rw8, and 2 mp40s in my 60x30x26.
Using reefcrest mode on my mp40s help a lot with creating random turbulent flow and using the pulse mode on the rw8.
Once in a while my mp40 flow pattern will clash with my gyre to create more turbulent flow.

I wouldn't ditch the gyre, but that's just my opinion.
If anything, I would get a bigger model gyre, run 2 mp40s, and 1-2 wav.

Thanks. Youre right about the placement. Didnt factor that very well.

I spoke with my LFS and after research on the web, my WAV's are placed on the side glass but looks like it may be best to place them on the back wall so ill give that a shot.
