starting a new tank , it's a 210gal with dual over flows, all glass , planning on having different types of coral but what ever it be I want to be ready for any tpye of corals , dimm. are 72x24x30

The question is will two Vortech's 40 be enough flow ?

i would say it depends on what type of corals you plan to keep. for sps id say not enough but for lps/softies it would do fine. 180 gal is the max i would use with 2 mp40s.

I think it would be just fine. I run 4 mp40s on my 360. You can always add a 3rd pump once stuff grows in fully but odds are 2 will be fine for a long time.

Two mp40 is enough if you crank them up to 90%, which I don't do. You can alway supplement with a cheaper third pump into the middle of the tank.

+1

Third pump on the back wall with all 3 running egos art is what I do and the sps love it

I'm building the same tank, with two mp40's and using a iwaki 55 for the return. To increase flow in the 3/4 returns, ETSS 60 gal berlin sump, ETSS 600xr powered by another Iwaki 55

Been down this road already and I say no. 2 will not reach across the tank effectively. MP60 and an MP40 will work or 2 60's. I have the same tank, and it may get you by with a VERY open rock system, but I was not happy with the results.
I run an MP60 and a 6205. Eventually the 6205 will be replaced with another 60.

Thank you all for your inputs , those thing are so expensive , I rather have to much than not enough , so maybe a 60 & 60 . I have read you can turn the flow power down , Thanks again !

I have the exactly tank you have and I run 2 MP40's with 2 maxijets modded with the swivel head so I can direct them where I need. 2 MP40's did a great job, but I still had some dead spots. I think the key is two more powerheads you can angle at certain areas to help flow when needed. I don't think you can ever go wrong with more flow. Now my tank loves it.
