Flower Pot Coral

Just a thought as my LFS owner said that she has had many problems trying to keep flower pots. Here is the solution, according to her:

Keep more than one.

She's kept 1 and never had it for more than a few months, with more than one, she's had them for long periods of time.

She didn't really claim to know why, just that it has worked and it has also now worked for other people who have bought from her.

hey, that pic of your gonipora( dragoneete) is a good looking specimen. You would be amazed if you saw mine. The polyp extensions extend on mine to around 6 inches. In fact, if i had it down lower in the tank, i think it would open even more cause some the polyps stop extending due to the rock around it and the water surface. I just don't want to chance hurting it by moving it. I don't even feed mine(maybe once a month) and it thrives awesomely. One time it tried to appear to die off and then a few weeks later, it was back and full again. So, in one year and a half, only two weeks of bad luck. I would post a picture but my camera takes to big of pics for me to post. My clown fish love it like a anemone, and it doesn't seem to mind either.

As far as the person wanting to know the difference between gonipora and alvepora, the main difference that i know of is the amount of tenacles at the end of the polyps.

Moppy welcome!!! Sounds like your LFS owner trying to sell lots of goni's...

Here's mine over a year, have 2 clowns, that don't go near it...I've seen it take in pieces of mysis, but never witnessed anything else...Not sure if it eats reef plankton, mega marine or other small goodies I feed to my fish and other corals...
