Hello!
my name is Nuno and I'm from Portugal
I've spent almost 2 months goggling this and other forums and now I'm afraid to start
I bought the Fluval Edge 12g/45L (love at first sight) and I was hoping to maintain a reef exclusive tank, with some cleanup crews.
<table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/mGX363KVtUCichnMSwQRbNMTjNZETYmyPJy0liipFm0?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-p0gzEmNBUdg/VdpEMF_d76I/AAAAAAAAHbI/xhA7fj_0zvY/s800-Ic42/IMG_20150823_122633.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">De <a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/102164112542315983024/NDGIF02?authuser=0&feat=embedwebsite">NDGIF</a></td></tr></table>
I don't want to put any extra light under the hood. Since I'm aiming for 36W/54W cree led lights I guess that would need a noisy fan. I'd rather have a kessil 150 or a PAR30 bulb. But I don't want it to be vertical but like in the picture horizontal.
So here goes some questions:
- I'll be using an Eheim Ecco 2236 (195 gph=750lph) for filtration and water flow. Must get a wave maker"¦?
- Is it feasible to point the bulb horizontally? Like the bulb in the picture? There should be less water (23.4in) for light to travel, more PAR?
- The tank isn't very large (16.9x10.2x23.4 in) would a PAR30 be better than a PAR38 (smaller angle) ?
- I would like to have SPS corals would a bulb PAR30 36W full spectrum be sufficient?
- Since a broken kessil would be much harder to replace than a
PAR bulb (and cheaper) I'm much more keen to the bulb. Any advice for good PAR30 bulb manufactures?
- The light will be pointing horizontal how will the SPS develop? towards the light?
- Would it be advisable to have an air bubble?
- Since I intend to have no fish, the food supply would only be from the shrimp. Is it possible to maintain a good nitrogen cycle like this?
Thank you very much for you time and patience. I appreciate any advice or comments
Abraços. :wavehand:
