Fluval edge 6g tank build

Well I got that itch back to make another tank on a very small scale you might remember me from a 30gallon rimless I made a thread about a while ago. I occasionally browse on offer up in the aquarium section and found a *new* fluval edge 6 gallon. I've always loved the clean look of these tanks and wanted to make a saltwater tank out of one so here starts another journey.

Equipment list:
Fluval edge 6 gallon
Aragonite sand 10lbs
5 lbs of Haitian rock
Mp10 for flow (definitatly over kill) been sitting out from my old tank
50w heater
Innovative marine led light

Pictures to come soon of the progress being made.
Looking to make this a soft coral / Lps tank with 1 clown and a cleaner shrimp.

So this is when I got the tank out of the box and started making ideas on how things can go. The innovative marine light wouldnt fit in the canopy so I had to use a dremel to make a hole for the brackets to hang out of. Currently prepping the tank for paint I'm gonna paint the back black so none of those uggly wires will be showing.

Those tanks are beautiful. I always wanted to do a crazy small pico for sps and bare bottom on those things. Have it on a flat piece of rock, elevated to make it look like it’s floating in the middle of the tank.

Good luck to you on what I believe will be an amazing tank!

Thanks for the kinds words :)

So yesterday I setup the tank for paint. Taped everything up and painted the back black. I must say lowes has these sample jars of paint perfect for this project only cost 3.00 😁and a small roller for under 5.00. Here's that whole process

Well finally got some water in it :) did the scape first than filled her up. I bought this blue jug to help with my 1 gallon water changes with minimal mess. I've read alot of people have been having sucess with these tanks doing 1 gallon a week. I'm using instant ocean reef salt at the moment but plan on switching to red sea at some point since it will last me a while.

And here's the tank currently. Now the waiting game 😢. Also here's more stuff I got for the tank from Amazon just waiting on the heater and refracto meter.

So some more stuff came in from Amazon got my heater and my hydrometer. I changed the way my mp10 is positioned on the tank since it was blowing up sand. I'm able to turn up the dial now a little more it's currently on nutrient export mode on 30 percent I can't really tell since nothing's in the tank if it's to much flow or not. Can't see any surface agitation from the mp10 but as long as I'm not kicking up sand all is good.

So made some more cuts with the dremel and cut away the back side of the hood so it slides more foward so it isn't blocking out so much light from the front ..... pictures show a before and after there of difference in lighting.

So errand run at Wal-Mart got my brain thinking of a possibility of this light. It works better than I expected, So what I did here is get 2 small shims and wrapped them in this string lights it's 65in of led string lol so I kept wrapping. This positioned in a space I have in the front of the hood from sliding it toward from my last mod. Enjoy the images I look and this mod only cost me 5.00 for atinics :eek2:

Just playing the waiting game at the moment for the cycle to go on for this tank I'll update the thread in a couple weeks when I'm ready for something to be added.
