Fluval Edge for SH?

Hi Everyone,

I was in my LFS and saw a Fluval Edge set up. I thought the tank would look good in my office on my desk. Do you think I could do seahorses in it? What other fish could I do? They had some mini gobies that were only an inch long. Maybe a sand sifting sea star?

Thank you.

I like those tanks as well, neat looking, not sure how horses would do in it tho. What kind of horses are you looking to get? I have a 90 gallon with around 14 Southern Erectus in it and 4 Redi and two tangs, a yellow and a blue. Also a sand sifting cucumber.

I'm new to SHs so I'm not sure what kind to get. I've been reading this forum and dwarfs seem to be my only choice.

Hey, what are your thoughts about the sand sifting cucumber? I was going to get one, but was afraid of their toxins. I myself have 3 Reidi in a 75 that are breeding like crazy.

I haven't seen those tanks in person but looking at the specs it would appear that it is feasible. Several H. zosterae is going to be your best bet as I would not put any species larger than that in a tank that size. The one thing that I wonder about is how hard is it to clean the glass? It says it has a hidden opening for feeding but make sure you can easily access the tank or it may be more trouble than it is worth.

I think the 6 gallon fluval is a beautiful tank. I plan on getting one next month for my dwarfs that are in a ten gallon now. It has more of an "art" feel to it and would like great on a desk. Dwarfs are fun if you plan on hatching lots of brine.

Being able to look at them clearly from the top and sides would be an added bonus. Post pics if you decide to do a dwarf tank.

I would not put any type of horses in one of those tanks. I would also not put a sand sifting star fish in one.

You might be abel to do a very small gobie,a nd a couple of inverts, but IME pico tanks are not meant for fish really.

6g tank, is a tank definately designed for dwarf seahorses. Sounds like a really cute setup too. Best of luck and post photos when you set it up!
