Foam board under tank?

I bought I used Visio 120 with stand. The previous owner had a foam board in between the stand and tank. Not sure why it's there but it's a bit unsightly. The tank has a plastic frame and the stand is a heavy duty wooden one. I'd like to remove it, any issues doing so?

I figured out why it was there, the base is sagging. Only the ends of the tank are actually resting on the stand. I dont think this was a good idea...

The stand has probably settled some from the weight of the water. Try filling it up as a test run(preferably outside), and see if the gap is still there. if it is, I think I would just build or buy a new stand.

Foam under a rimless tank is to protect the glass from the stand. On a tank that is rimmed, the plastic sits on the stand not the glass.

On an old 72 gallon tank a few years back that I had, I was advised to use the foam board. Reason? To minimize the vibrations (I had hardwood floors and a crawl space under my house) so the fish are not stressed. Not totally sure it's necessary but that's why I had one.

Thanks for the replies. I've been googling and found similar examples about the corners. I'm feeling better about this. However, the center overflow is drilled through the bottom of the tank. Does that create a weak point ?
