Foam/ Rock back wall

So after following several threads on this and tons of research I have decided to build a back wall out of becketts uv pond foam, dry rock, zip ties, zpoxy resin and crushed coral.

List of what I used
2 cans of becketts black pond foam
80#s of dry rock
1 8oz bottle of z poxy resin
5#s of crushed coral

Approx. cost is about $125 thanks to CORA members for donating rock.

Pictures will follow!

What size tank is it for?

Where did you use the resin?

Could you describe your process a little more?

I'm debating on one of these. Part of my hang up is trying to figure out how I'd tie my coast to coast overflow box into it. I think it could make a really interesting natural looking rock ledge, or it could come out looking like complete crap and be very distracting.

That looks awesome, can't wait to see it all done. What size tank are you putting it in and what do you plan on keeping in the tank.

This is going on a 75 gallon reef tank with a corner over flow. The total length of this unit is 39.5"x18" tall.
I zip tied all the rock to the egg create with 6" zip ties. After I organized the rock to my liking I used Becketts pond foam which is IV resistant to fill in between any cracks. I let that dry for 24hrs and than began to use ZPOXY finishing resin to cover any of the foam and then sprinkled the crushed coral on the resin before it could dry.

Right now it is a mixed reef. I have had this aquarium 7-8 years and wanted to try out this technique. Resin finished drying today and it will go in the display tank Sunday. Nervous but excited to see how the fish and corals do. It's manly a LPS and a softy tank but do have some SPS. I'm hoping that the rock cylcing process doesn't take long

Detritus

Do you have a concern or a solution for possible dead spots or detritus build up behind the wall?

I was thinking of doing this too, but was worried,

There are only a couple spots were water could pocket behind the wall, however even if water gets back there there will be enough flow in the tank to prevent still water. Even if i didn't have as much flow as I do I still wouldn't be worried. Water is always moving around in the tank from water changes and such.

I have four Korilia Powerheads in the tank.

All the fish and corals are doing great. The wall looks amazing and adds a nice perspective to the tank. Thank you to everyone who helped and donated rock for this project.
