Foam/ Rock back wall

Looks amazing!! I have a question however! How did you get the epoxy onto the foam? I read how you used a brush but did you mix it in a cup prior or did you spread it 1 compound on top of the other? I just bought the 12 oz box of Z Poxy that why I'm asking. Here's my progress:

Maybe you covered this before, how did you get the wall to stay in position and not have the top of it start to "fall over" due to the weight of it?

I mixed the epoxy in a container then brushed it on and then covered it in sand. It is held on the back of the tank by silicone.

Looks great! I realize I'm coming a bit late here, but I wanted to ask how the wall is holding up so far? And now that you lived with it for a while, would you do anything differently?

I'm working on a variation of this idea, and would love to hear your thoughts.

I'm thinking of using fiberglass resin to seal a diy fake mangrove root. Is there any particular reason you chose Zpoxy?

Wall is holding up great. It looks better than I had hoped for. Colored up really quickly and the fish seem to love the new dimension. I don't think there is anything I would do differently.

That's great to hear.

You added sand to the uncured epoxy layer, correct?

I was thinking of adding sand directly to the foam, but I've read it doesn't work as well. any thoughts?

On mine, it tends to flake off a bit. I used gorilla glue instead of epoxy. That worked great with the sand. I'm hoping my few black spots will color up.

Yes I added sand to the uncured epoxy layer. We have had almost nothing flake off and it's been going for a year now. It took coralline algae really quickly. However I would recommend to only do this project if you have a DD tank.
