Foam/Rock Wall for my 265 gallon Tank!

Hello all, I am the hairy armed guy featured in some of the pictures. ;)

I installed the new fuge underneath the beast today, here is the story.

First I took a picture to remember what it looked like in case it collapsed and I had to flee the country.

Floorjack and emergency board in case the jack failed.

Apparently they nailed that piece from the top as well as screwing it from inside. It is unfortunate the top split when I hammered it out of there. Had I known they were there I would have knocked the bottom out and not damaged the it. :(

It really didn't want to fit even with the brace moved.
BTW: That was a brand new ball valve that froze. Never use channel locks to try and turn em....

IMG_0630Medium.jpg

Smashed the hell out of my thumb forcing it in there!

I was overjoyed when I got it to pop in under the drain valve!

IMG_0633Medium.jpg

Decided it was best to just put the 2x4 behind there with the brace cracked at the top.

All done and running! Splitting off one of the overflows was a really good idea, I really like it. Beats taking it from the pump by a mile.

It was much scarier thinking about it than actually doing it....

It is a cool looking tank for the chaeto. I am wondering where did you get that size, or was it custom made?

The tank is AMAZING.

Incredible job.

Keep up the good work.

morphiii, it's a stock Perfecto 37 gallon cube.
Trust me, I was VERY excited when I discovered the tank at Big Al's, got my measuring tape out of my purse and realized it was 18" x 20" and the cabinet can handle 18", exactly.
Of course I didn't really think about the "getting it in there" minor detail......
:D

HOLY Hole in a Donut!!!!!!!!

HOLY Hole in a Donut!!!!!!!!

Andrea you are insane!!!!!!!!!!!

When I spoke to you today I had no idea that this is what I was going to see.

This isn't a thread this is a industrial sized rope!

I can't believe how nice the back wall looks and the lengths that you went to to achieve the result.....

The tank looks stunning :eek1: :eek1: :eek1: :eek1:

Warmest Regards,

:@)

It's time for an update.

I added some Live Rock and it incorporated very nicely with the wall and the rock formations I built. All the green and brown algae is gone thanks to a wonderful clean up crew that's been working non stop. Thank you guys! I do have a bit of cyano here and there, not sure why since Nitrites, Nitrates and Phosphates are all zero.

So tonight I decided to add some frags, just junk but a little bit of everything so I can see what will grow and what won't.

Before:

With some frags

And actinics

Will be installing Calcium Reactor, Kalk Stirrer and Auto Top Off hopefully by the weekend.

Update!

Moved more frags over and got a new fish!
No coralline growth in the main tank yet, but a few spots here and there in the refugium. All nuisance algae is gone.

All parameters are perfect.

Tyler, that's hilarious, here is my Max as a baby...We found him in an old truck, abandoned by his mother and raised him with a bottle.

Is that a perfecto prestige stand... i have the same on in black - stand and canopy. 180g - what size tank do you have here? this makes me want to do the back wall of mine - but i would have to break it down first since it is up and running.

Not sure if it's called Prestige, it is the one that is wavy. The tank is 265g

NOW THAT ALL THE "HARD WORK ", IF YOU HAD TO DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN WOULD YOU ?

I think I would, because I like it very much. Can’t wait ‘til the frags start growing. My one and only gripe is that the tank is only 24” wide, another 6” and I would be in heaven.
Right now I need to empty my 250g bowfront and I have a chalice the size of a dinner plate and a large Orange cap, I don’t know where to put.

Hey speckled grouper first off great job, looks amazing. I was wondering if you could help me out i wanted to do the foam rock to my new tank and was wondering about how many of th 12oz. touch n foam cans do you think i would need for a 3'x2' section? much appreciated for the help in advance.

Small update, the tank is doing good and I added some fish even though this FTS doesn't show any

I also made covers for the overflows to retain "jumpers". I will coat it with epoxy and gravel this weekend

Tank looks awesome I want to build a rock foam reef so bad, just not ready yet.

They look so natural, yet open, yet still so many places for fish to hide and to place corals, love it:)

Great Job.
