Foam/Rock Wall for my 265 gallon Tank!

If you go back to the beginning of this thread, you can see how I handled that. It's not the easiest thing.....I cut strips of egg crate, the height of the whole structure about 2" wide and tied them together with zip ties. I made a template of the curve of the overflow and bent the egg crate around the template. One side came out great, the other didn't fit so good and I had to make modifications to make it work. Take your time with it. After it's coated, it will blend right in.

ok I started the grid work now my overflows are different that yours and I have to cut some of the grid for water. Here are some pictures. Let me know if you see any changes

So if I use the stuff for ponds it doesn't need to be epoxy coated since its ok with uv?

there was a guy a youtube putting water soft salt in the wet foam will this dissolve and give a rough look to the foam?

Im doing no sand tank and have been thinking about doing this on bottom as well but would it become a nitrate trap?

Very inspiring. I was about two weeks into a cycle when I saw this thread. I broke own my 16 g nuvo nano and will be building a wall. Also building a hang on the back refug for additional LR and Cheato.

No thoughts to my idea?

Maybe the foam would stick to the rock you are trying to stamp with and pull the foam instead of leaving a stamped impression. Give it a try and let us know how it works. Sounds like a good idea though.

Way to go!
I have turned many HOB filters into refugiums and ran tanks as big as 40g on nothing but a HOB fuge. A little sand, a little rock and some cheato, works great!

Still working on my wall son came to visit for a wk so back to work on it.

Yeah, the son and family come first. I got my sump running again today for the first time in over a year. I was excited. LOL May pick up the egg crate this week and start planning my wall. Do you have a build thread?

Here is one of the freestanding pieces I made

I've got a question. How strong is the bond as far as being able to move them around and not falling apart? That would be a nice touch in and by itself.

I've read this entire thread and will be getting busy as soon as I have my tank drilled and the overflow box installed. I hope I can hide it as well as you could yours. I'll be using the one from Glass Holes and it centers in the top and back of the tank.

Very nice job!
