Foam Rockwall w/ built in refuge for a 26 gal bowfront

Michael, took me almost 2 hours and broke almost all coral doing it... but I got the two ***holes in a breeder box. Took 30 min to get the new bta off the overhang.
Let the bonding begin!

Put everything back together, glued the broken digi frags to plugs, and everything is as it was. I tossed the dieing red monti caps. They were dull and not getting enough light anyways.

The blenny was happy about this. Roaming around, but retreating to his little shell in the wall.

I got some sweet cell phone macro pics! I got a lifeproof case for my droid turbo and took these underwater at 4x magnification. The camera is 16mp widescreen. If I make it more narrow it uses 21mp. I'll try that tomorrow.

Will post pics when photobucket wants to work again...

Welshintheusa, thanks for taking the time to read it all! Definitely make a build thread or post some pics here when the time comes! Let me know if you have any questions.
My next tank will be the same size as yours, but half as long.

Glad to hear it was no trouble! I LOL-ed! Google DIY 2 liter bottle fish trap. Easy to make, and very easy to catch most fish. Sorry, I guess I should have mentioned it before…

So you put your phone IN the tank to take pics? How's that work?

I look forward seeing what you got! They sell aftermarket macro lenses for iPhones. I have a feeling I'm going to want one after seeing your pics.

IPhone smyphone... I get sick of reading "sorry for the crappy iPhone pics"!!! Lol anyways it's a waterproof phone case and you zoom before submersion and use the volume key to take the pic bc the screen doesn't work with all the water touching it.
I usually use the widescreen (16x9) camera mode, which is 15.5 megapixels, I can make it 21mp, but the pic is 4x3 and doesn't fit the full width of of my screen.

I thought of the bottle trap, but I wanted results without waiting. Lol I ended up using a blue fish net, the clear plastic tube for a gravel siphon, bamboo skewers, my 1/2 gal betta tank, and my hand. Lol

With the clowns in solitary confinement, the blenny has roamed the entire tank, except for the back, and still prefers the shell he first found. I released the clowns yesterday and they are still jerks, but not nearly as bad, especially since the blenny stands his ground and fights back. Lol

New pics!
The goby wanted to be in the pics since the two jerks were caged up.

The dead coral skeleton is from my honeymoon. (Heheh, I brought back a 10lb grocery bag full of it) I had to repack our bags so they weren't overweight. Lol

ive seen a few of these and they are awesome, almost no one else has them and I like how yours has the in back refugium to.

Thanks Jeremy. I am now trying to find some chaeto for the back, better late than never...

Thanks Michael, he was definitely liking the freedom from the clowns.

The wife and I named the new blenny, Ned. lol He showed me his disapproval after I called him by his new name by looking at me and stretching his mouth wide open and swimming away!

Maybe you should exchange your clowns for new clowns. Your other fish benefit and you still get to keep a pair of clowns.

Great strategy, getting the wife involved! Smooth…

The fish are her favorite part. She says I don't need any crabs or snails..
She also suggested I get rid of the clowns. I really like them and don't want to switch them out. So, they stay for now.

Not sure if my logic was 100% sound or not, but I got a new fish. Haha

It's a three stripe damsel. My reasoning is - if I get a meaner fish, then maybe it will make my mean fish nicer... Lol I figured it was worth a shot.
If I have to, I can easily resell it for the $4 I paid for it.

Next we have the traveling bta..

It walked within inches up the glass past the mp10 to hug the cualastrea!

I have since moved it and it made its way to behind the toadstool and zoas.

Lastly, my wet side broke :(

I put two mini filters in its place which seems to be enough for now. Mailing the part back today. The ceramic shaft coating broke while it was running and jammed the prop..

Aquarium woes.

I agree with your wife. You could add several more cool fish, if you solve your "clown problem". Lose 'em, get some cool blennies and gobies, add new clowns last.

I had a pair of four stripe humbugs in my first marine tank! Cool fish! But way too mean for a peaceful community. Maybe you should consider adding another tank for mean fish. A Rambo Tank!

One day your anemone will settle down. You may try feeding it when it's in a good spot. That may convince it to stay.

Yeah yeah, I'll tell you like I told my wife. "Blah, blah, blah" lol

They've gotten slightly nicer..
The blenny ventures wherever he wants and stands his ground when backed into his shell. I've watched him nip the female clown when she goes at him and turns around. The damsel doesn't seem to care when he gets chased now and then.

Exciting news!

Finally they are somewhat hosting the new green bta. They get all warm and fuzzy with it every once in a while. Just need to make it a permanent thing!

Also got my wet side shaft thing Friday. They sent me these frag cutters for free and didn't charge for the replacement part!!

Rescaped the tank as well to accommodate the bta in a new spot I'm trying. Not sure what to do with the purple cap yet. It wasn't getting enough light where it was.

he is a mod for that skimmer , use WHITE BIC PEN
a>

Kenneth, thanks for the tip.
What does this do, as in why does the water level need to be higher?
The micro bubbles are what I need a mod for...

with the bubbles leaving threw the return is less in the neck to lift up the foam head. no more micro bubbles In dt and a better skim

F%$# %&$# $%&# was me around 4pm today...

The skimmer needed cleaning again and in the process of trying to remove it. I knocked the light in the tank..

About 1/3 of it went in and I grabbed it and pulled it out. After pulling it out, the whites shut off, and a few sec later came back on and I pulled the cord out as quick as I could.

I set it on the floor and got my tool kit out and started taking it apart. I blew off everything and blow dried everything, put it back together AND IT WORKS!!! :)

Need to make a new light stand now as I broke it after it fell in..
