Foam won't rise on 9010

I can't get the foam to rise on my 9010. The back pressure seems good and water is exiting the pipe. Checked the venturi connection and it seems fine, too. The skimmer was doing fine until the pump seemed to be making some noise. I then took it apart, the noise went away, but it stopped skimming. I would have thought I did something wrong, but as I said I can't seem to find anything that doesn't look right. :crazy1: What could be wrong?

Best bet is to re assemble skimmer and start from scratch, did you add anything to the system many additives will inhibit skimmers foaming correctly

The only thing that I have added was Ca and Mg. I added these before and it didn't seem to interfere with the skimming. Could the venturi be clogged? If so, what would be the best way to remedy that?

If you're getting regular bubble production, but bubbles won't rise enough, maybe the water level is too low. Is there an adjustable riser on this skimmer? If so, adjusting it should effect the height of the bubbles.

A lot of times after a major cleaning the skimmer will take a couple days to start skimming again simply from the oils. If it is producing bubbles, I would give it some time, the only thing I would double check is that the airline that connects to the pump didn't get pinched and that the nozzle of the pump is inserted into the clear jet pipe.

Another question, when I took the airline off the pump the air tube broke away from the side. Just wasn't careful enough. :hammer: It appears that it was glued on the side. Is this something to be concerned about, as I don't see or hear any difference in the performance?

The only way this would be a problem would be if it broke free in such a way that a small hole was left in the silencer where water was coming in. It is only glued to make a neater assembly and to eliminate any potential noise from it knocking around inside the skimmer.
