food for fish mucus ...

Hello,

so I was treating a fish from my friends tank ... it had a very bad case of ich ...
I did TT, and now its basically gone ... but the fish looks REALLY bad. blister looking things on its skin, and makes me think it has ISsues regaining its mucus coating ....

I have lowered the salinity in the HT he is in now ... and just doing water changes daily and feed it PE mysis and nori as much as I possibly can. the fish is FAT.

what other foods, or techniques could I use to help this fish out ? it breaks my heart just seeing it daily.

it looks sad lol

yap. selcon and beta glucan, and Vitachem, and some garlic here and there.

was thinking Aloe Vera as well.

more specifically, I am looking to see if anyone has hard proof [a paper or something] showing a food, or a method, helping fish rebuild its mucus.

Vitamin supplements such as Selcon, Zoecon, Vita-chem can help.

Nitrofuracin Green is supposed to be good for healing wounds, sores, ammonia burn, etc.

And then there's Stress Coat, which contains Aloe Vera, which is supposed to help heal damaged tissue.

I've had good success rehabilitating fish with tons of food soaked in Zoe and selcon, good water quality, and plain time. You didn't mention what kind of fish we are talking about? Are the sores spread over the fish or located in a specific area? Do they look like pits or open wounds?

What kind of fish is this? Are you sure this isn't brooklynella? Going by the description, the peeling skin is a real indicator of brook. Vitamins, etc. aren't going to do anything now----they are for long term benefits, not medicinal.

Achilles.

its been with me for last 2 weeks, about 2 months at friends tank[DOnt ask me how large .... thats one of the reasons I wont be giving him this prety fish back] so I dont think its brook. fish would have died by now if it was.

just wondered if there are any new/ better info out there or something I havent considered :)

thanks everyone for the help :)

we humans even loose energy when medicating, or doing through a surgery.

a fish would also be the same after coming out of hospital tank .

but you have successfully worried me now lol I think Im gonna treat him with formalin if things dont get better soon. .. how long can fish be "around" with brook in your opinion ? is there still a chance ?

I dont see how a pic would help, so its fine.

I have asked this before, what are you looking to see in a pic ? :)

I ask this, so you can teach me and others on here :) what is it you are looking to find on a pic ? how do you go about diagnosing a fish disease via a pic ? I would love to learn from you.

Thanks.lol

In trying to help you, Rea asked several questions that you did not directly answer, those could be answered by a picture.

Because brook, HLLE, residual scarring, and bacterial infections all look very different to someone who knows what they are looking at. A picture would be a much better description of what is wrong with the Achilles, and the worst I could say is that the image is inconclusive. I was trying to help you (or rather your fish), and have in the past. Why ask for help if you are going to drag your feet and not answer relavent questions? Good luck with your fish.

thank you for all the help.

after 15 years of keeping these fish, I think I can tell HLLE apart from ICH and brook ... LOL ! not everyone who makes a thread is a newb ... some times an outside view on the situation help. hence the thread on what to FEED ... many times, we forget about some of our tools ... which others can remind.

Ami, I did ask for help, and you did help, Zeo and selcon, thank you for that. there is a big difference between some one asking "What is this" and someone explaining a situation and asking for second opinion on the path to take ;)

LOL ... I dont blame anyone though ... too used to noobs making threads I guess. ...

I must have misunderstood.

Ami, I cant help to think you are just trolling ppl here ...

fish with BROOK, will not last 3 weeks. you have a different view ? share it !

I hate to ignore ure posts now on but seems like only way .

not asking anyone to diagnose anything.

Dude you literally asked

Hello,
...
what other foods, or techniques could I use to help this fish out ? ....

Depending on what they see in the picture they might suggest something or other, base on what they see. What might look to you as "problem x", might be "problem y" to someone else looking at it.

Apparently you and Rea have some sort of history that does not allow you to see things for what they are.

I really have no history, I was simply asking a question that was not received well for some reason. I'm not sure what all of the animosity is about, but we can thank RC for the ignore list. It won't be an issue in the future. Sorry this thread went off on that tangent.

lol I did ask. your right.
"what other foods, or techniques could I use to help this fish out ? it breaks my heart just seeing it daily. "

pics help. there was this tank I set up about 5 years ago. the guy went our and bought 12 blue tangs, before the tank cycled. obs they died. a week later he calls me to tell me the fish are sleeping. in that case, YES, picture of the dead fish, half rotten away DID help :) in this case I know what I am talking about. I have watched this fish for hours daily, a NONE moving pic of the condition of the fish NOW [which is actually alot better, so a pic would look normal to you] will do nothing ! its the PROCESS of the Possible parasite.

anyways ... alot of ppl like to come on here after keeping a nemo and act like doctors or vets. it would be great to try to help and answer a question asked, rather than digging in hoping to find something else. lol

I have nothing against Rea. and dont blame her, most of the posts on disease forum are from newbs and end with "that tank is too small for the fish" or .... which I do as well. ... but have to realize who is asking u what ... I hope noone takes this as offensive, but there are only 2-3 ppl on here that I trust with diagnostic ... over my own eyes.

that would be much appreciated.
