For all you Sunburst/Flamethrower BTA fans

They usually split when they are stressed out to improve survivor rate. It could be time to change that carbon.

Carbon is changed on a monthly basis and it's scheduled to be changed this weekend during this week weekly water change.
I'm not sure if I 100% agree that BTA split due to stressed. When I was keeping a tank full of RBTAs, some will split every month or so and some just get big. I think it's more due to genetics in individuals.
The one that is splitting right now is the one that hasn't moved since day one even when I moved the whole rock in a different location. If it is stressed that cause the splitting I would expect the other one to do it since I physically removed it from the rock and placed it where I want after it went hiding behind the rock.

They can split when stressed. They can also split when healthy. One way to trigger asexual reproduction is to feed them heavily...

Some individuals do not seem to asexually reproduce at all. No one knows why.

Sorry to revive a very old thread, but I'm picking up a sunburst from a local club reefer and wanted to know how yours are doing in terms of color and what not under LEDs... I've heard mixed stories of sunbursts, lemondrops, flamethrowers all just becoming RBTAs of sorts under LEDs...

Any updates? Thanks, the macros are stunning.

I have found them to not like LEDs that don't have the full color spectrum!

I beg to differ. My red bubbles do just fine under a blue/white LED spectrum. Has bubbles and good growth and color and everything. So, perhaps it was just your tank!

Beautiful bubbles in those pics by the way... I wish I had them all.

I've had some mixed results to be honest. I have a RBTA that was blood red that has now mellowed out to a red tentacle at the tip, yellow in the middle, with a green oral disc.. real cool. It has since split, I got it in March.

The GBTA in my avatar, was neon green, and since April, has lost almost 80% of that neon color and is turning into a normal GBTA...

I am going to be getting a local reefers Lemondrop and or Sunburst clone coming int he next 3 weeks, so I'll have another experiment coming up in terms of LEDs and BTAs.
