for dog lovers, poignant story of a grand champion fighting dog.

I try hard not judge others. I have a hard time with dog fighting. I'm sure people fault me for killing coral for my amusement.

I just thought it was a nice story. It was good to see Lucas, the dog , get some years of good care after the rescue.
As for Vick, he's not mine to judge, but the acts were horrible and past my understanding as amusement. I don't think many if any of us kill coral for amusement ;not the same thing at all.

Dog fighting is horrible. While I was reading it I was thinking about how we pull animals out of the ocean, their homes and jam them into tiny glass boxes. I still love doing it though so I will.

Funny how they say he was so good around people but didn't say anything about what that dog does when it sees another dog. Pits are snugglers with people and great to have around the house, easy to care for and lazy but after my last one passed I got an Australian Shepherd. He's so much more work than my pit (including controlling the biting) but he's so good with other dogs.

TMZ, is your's a border collie mix?

I have two boder collies. They are bother and sister;good dogs. I've always had dogs: cocker spaniels , labs , a sheppard coon hound mix, a sheltie, and several border collies. My son my daugter in law have a English bulldog and a jack russel terrier. The buldopg is seet but umpredictable in tems of spontaneous aggression; he' older and slowed by arthitis now though. My daughter has a pompnerianian, At times my wife and I wind up keeping all 5. I've met a few people with pit buls who love them for thier friendliness even with other dogs.

I loved my pitbull. She was a total babe but still a little unpredictable. I always want to say it's the owner and dogs upbringing that causes it to act in specific ways but I don't really think it's true. In her defense, the plain fact that when she got scared she would scare the crap out of people around her because of the look and sound that came out of her. She loved my neighbor but hated his lawnmower. He was scared to mow his lawn if she was out. They can be absolutely wonderful companions.

When I got my ausie I said what the heck was I thinking? This thing is a maniac! He's still the craziest thing I've ever dealt with. He's so fast, so maneuverable, can literally run for hours and painfully hard to outsmart.

Some dogs just have it in them. I know the look you mentioned. Sometimes my son's bulldog gets it and you know a charge is coming. I can't pick him up and put him on his back any more at my age so when he visits he is isolated unless my son is her with him.

My female border collie is shy. Scared of noises; hard t oget her out the door on garbage pickup days. She'll seek a place to hide during thudrstorms and trembles. It takes her a long time to get used to visitors. She is not aggressive, though. She barks runs and hides. Her brother is all over folks seeking attention. They are both smart ; not aggressive and eager to please.Easy to control with verbal commands. They fight with each other once in awhile over food or a toy but nothing serious.

I had a pit. He just recently passed away but he was the best dog I ever had. He loved people and he loved dogs. He thought everyone wanted to be his best friend but he was so big and muscular that people automatically get scared of him thinking he is mean. I remember one day a man was walking this own dog down the road and Baxter went dog the driveway and just started walking with them lol the man started to walk a bit faster bc he was nervous until I went and got him. Silly guy he was. And so lovable.

I also have a shiba inu. She is a very unique breed. So agile and takes a lot to tire them out. Howls and is very verbal but not in a barking way, more in a throaty way. She's like a cat in how she licks her paws and makes sure they are clean. She loves people but not too fond of other dogs. I think bc she is protective of my husband and I. She is a gem tho and I love her :)

Love my boxer. He's a nut, always doing something that makes me laugh. He's a good boy with lots of love and energy. Here's a pic I took the other day of what he was doing while my wife was in the store.

Its all in how they were raised. I did rescue for nyc acc and if anyone knows them no terrier has a chance its horrible the abuse this breed suffers! If everyone remembers this breed used to be considered the nany dog back in the day. So sad that ppl ruin the reputation of these dogs :( I own 2 at the moment brother and sister and have rescued and fostered many others and they are by far the most loving...loyal dog!
