For sale or trade

I have a large scopus Tang that needs a good home. It's too large for my tank and I will NOT...I repeat ...WILL NOT take him to a local pet store for store credit because I will get ripped off and he deserves better.

Anyhoo, I am merely asking for maybe a trade of some frags or something. I seriousely doubt I will get my money back out of him..I paid 90 bucks for him about 10 months ago.

Please PM me if interested...First come, first serve. We can arrange to meet somewhere. I'd really rather NOT ship him.

ps..I live in the chattanooga, TN area.

I was thinking that if anyone had a small yellow tang or some other small fish they wanted to trade me for...that would be awesome.

I'm also interested in sps frags.

Hey so, is he aggressive at all? Any signs of ich since you've had him?

How big is big? Keeping in mind that I have a relatively huge naso, so that's what I am trying to compare sizes to.

The length from nose to tail is roughly 5 - 6 inches and about 3 -4 inches tall. It's hard to really tell LOL but that's a very close estimate.

No ich, he's VERY tame. Very curious too. He'll follow you around while you are looking in the tank LOL

The ONLY thing that bothers me about him is that he likes to steal food from my sun coral when I feed it. LOL

He sounds sweet but is he aggressive towards your other fish (tell me what other fish you have, as that would help)?

Also, I have a decent amount of sps (zooanthids too) that I could frag up, as long as they'd be stuff you'd want. I am just not sure if I want your fish or not (sorry to be gruff sounding). I am just very careful what fish I put into the tank as I don't want to disrupt the balance between the fish I already have (nor do I want to murder my bioload once all these guys are full sized). Thanks.

Nah, you ain't gruff LOL I totally understand
He's not aggresive at all towards my two percs or my Serpent star or my Manderin Goby.

He's never picked at any corals except to steal the food from them LOL

That's cool. I have to do a bit more research before I make a decision, I hope that's ok. If someone else comes along who wants him, I understand if you sell him.

totally cool with me. I don't blame ya one bit for being cautious ;)

When you look him up...keep in mind that he's an adult scopus and not a juvy. that may or may not make a difference in behavior.

Hey so, I think I am not going to take your fish. I'm really sorry but I just have it pretty good right now and I don't want to disrupt things with another tang. I just added the Kole anyways and it would be good if he got a bit bigger before I added any more large fish.

Sorry to lead you on a bit! hah hah. I hope you find him a really good home. He does look very cute.

You might ask Angela Short in MTRC if she wants him. She's setting up a huge tank.

no worries Mel :D I am thinking of getting me a Kole too ...is she helping nip away at hair algea?

btw..did you know that the RevReefer sold his 125g setup? !!! I initially asked him if he wanted this beaut but he never responded and I found out from Brandon that's what happened :(:(

Yeah...that's where I got the Kole actually. I have noticed that the Kole is really great about grazing on the rocks (as opposed to fatty in my avatar). But I had hair algae on the back glass til I cleaned it yesterday and I didn't notice him eating that much. I'm honestly not sure what he was eating.

Ctenochaetus Tangs (Kole, Chevron, Tomini) aren't good for eating hair algae... Thats the nice thing about the Zebrasomas (Yellow, Sailfin, Scopas) they aren't so picky...

Ha HA I feel like Mikey now...Just ask Angela she will take anything! I already have a sailfin from the same sub species in the 270 and I would be leary of adding 2 so closely related. I have a huge tang load anyways with 5 tangs all from a different sub group and I am way pushing it for bio load in the future and aggression as they grow.
The kole is a bristle tooth tang and eats mainly diatoms and film alage from the rocks, not much on hair like Randy said. But one of my guys has been hard at work on a few stray peices of trailing alage I got from trading. Its no where to be seen now so Yea!
BTW Mel my Naso suddenly started pigging out on flake anf frozen like a champ so I feel better about her more compleate diet. She will eat flakes right from my finger tipps. I swear I could pet her!

Good luck finding your Scopas a good home! I think they are neat and not so over done like the yellow.

That's awesome Angela...the nasos are so cool!

When we moved Priscilla from a bucket to the tank I actually just picked her up with my hands and gently moved her. It was sooo neat!

The guy I got this Scopas from did the same LOL...he simply picked it out of a bucket we were keeping him in while we setup the rocks and placed him in the tank!

I about slugged him for doing that but the fish didn't seem to mind the ride LOL

I have picked up lots of my fish by hand when I have used dipps but always was afraid of a tangs wepon getting me. I figure a hand is much easier on the mucuse coating and eyes than a scratchy net.

5 TANGS Angela!!!!!!! My gosh... Thats rather bold for one tank... lol :) Lets see... Naso, Powder Blue, Kole, Sailfin, and ????? Did you keep that Yellow Skeleton??? I know you said he was doing a bunch better... I received a Chevron in the same condition as your Yellow was in... I've got him almost back to normal weight... :D

What are you using for a skimmer on that beast... Oh, and next time I'm out your way, I'm coming over again... ;)

Well, I decided to go ahead an put Captain Scopus ( that's what I call him now ) back in my display.

I couldnt stand to see him be so lonely. So, he's still up for grabs but I'm not gonna really push the issue :D

Thanks Mel for the interest at least. You're the only one that ever responded LOL

At least he is back in the display so you know he is happier. Hopefully someone will want to give him a bigger home soon! Good luck!
