for you DIY guys

No, but I did most of it. I just wanted to get a pic, so the fellow who showed me how to run it was doing some.

It made a really nice cut. I thought it would get hot, but if you don't go too deep on each pass it doesn't get hot at all.

dan i think i want a vavarium now! could i do a small scale one? im thinking about something like a 10 gallon box/tank. is this possible? other than frogs what type of inhabitants can you have in a vavarium?
by the way your project looks great! nice pictures!

You can keep practically any herp in a vivarium. Dart frogs are fun because they are diurnal, unlike most treefrogs etc which only come out at night.

You can also keep anoles, geckoes, snakes etc.

A 10 gallon tank would be a fine start. Just get some of that reptile bedding or peat moss, maybe some gravel for drainage on the bottom. Put on a florescent light, some kind of plexi/screen top, put in plants and your in business.

2 good entries in the contest too.
Those are sweet lookin. My wife would dig those! She use to keep quite a few different terrariums...but not a vivarium. Gonna have to show her. Had I seen a "real" vivarium before I got into reefs, I may have taken that route instead...still looks expensive, though. :D

Yes...I am a proud member of Vivaria Forums. :smokin:

It's much cheaper than reefs. You need decent florescent lights and a tank; that's about it. An automatic misting system is nice but not necessary.

My favorite part is when the power goes out... no worries!

dan im gonna start off with gieco's..... LOL...... i mean geckoe's
i will be on your vavarium forum asking questions very soon. thanks dan i cant wait to do this ! could the frogs and geckoes be house 2gether? i would like to add frogs for thier singing as the sound would be awsome!

You could have geckoes and frogs together, as long as the space is not too small, both species habitat requiremets are met, and they are sized so neither can eat each other.

The thing is finally glued together! I guess I managed the hard parts- check out the thread for details/pics.
